I played it for maybe ten hours. I had high resistance to tedium at the time, liked the setting and the techno-mage classes. Some of the writing amused me, but it may be cringier than I remember. I ended up dropping it when the combat just became unfun.
But in the world of terrible hack-and-slashes, it definitely has some arguments. It's boring, but not offensively bad.

I pirated it just to try it, and boy was it shit. This game doesn't have a single redeemable aspect, nothing is good about it. It has that early-mid 2000's feel to it, but that's it. If you want to try it for yourself go ahead, but do not waste your money on it.

I disliked the bugs and what they did to LAN players
I also dislike the combat for melee, especially when enemies went melee honestly it feels a bit rushed
For some reason their attacks would ignore height, so you could literally be hit from great distances when going next to windows or using the stairs
apart from that its a bit boring most of the time.
Honestly i felt like they shot themselves in the foot with what they did to LAN, although it was nowhere near as bad as what they did to starcraft 2

Shit game that was a pseudo-MMO from ex-blizzard/blizzard north people who bribed reviewers by stroking their ego while offering a fucking clunky game with combat that didn't work very well in third person or first person, it's like the pre-alpha version for Fallout 3 or Borderlands, it didn't fucking work very well and they went insane with the various stats and their numbers, and they were still stuck with the early-2000s PC mentality, this game didn't need fucking LAN and subscription bullshit, it needed more fucking polish.

I bought this when it came out, it wasn't optimized that well and was pretty buggy from what I remember. The environment was pretty cool but I'm a sucker for post-apoc type stuff. At the time it was unique because Borderlands wasn't out and Destiny was still only rumored to be a thing, but the combat just felt stale and enemies repeated a lot. There were some fun guns to use but I honestly can't remember any of them since it's been over a decade since I last played the game. It was moderately fun to play multiplayer but if this version is going to be single only, I wouldn't waste your time with it

Going from the broken english on the store page, it seems like they took the korean p2w version (which if I remember correctly, in that version you had to pay $10 to get an item just so you can access the rest of the game) of the game and modified it for single player use but still keeping the cash shop (ie. the "premium support items") to get some extra shekels.

I agree with some people on this thread, the setting and character visuals are pretty good but the enviroments are all the same, little enemy variety and terrible combat, the classes all have terrible skills too, from what i remember the hunter class skills where mostly different types of grenades for example.
If they were to fix the combat and skills the game would be a solid 6/10.

Pirated and played it. It's pretty shit. Plays like D2 but worse in every way, environments are repetative and look like shit, guns feel worthless and melee lacks any impact. Story is non-existant, enemies have little variety, the levels have no reason to explore books and crannies besides acquiring more useless ammo. Classes are imbalanced as all fuck.

Well, it covers the upper torso quite well, shoulders and the entire arm too. With the helmet, you're pretty much set in upper defense.
Legs seem to be fully armored as well, so that's another avenue that you're safe.
There's really only the groin and the abdoment left unprotected, which does seem like a terrible idea considering how horrible your death would be with a cut there, but you can look at it this way:
They have an obvious target that makes their oponents predictable since they'll go for that.
There's no vital organs in that area and on top of that, it's an easily defendable area as well.
When you think about it, the chaffing from the belts is probably the biggest issue with that armor.

>>15645294
>I wish you were able to change the camera view, but you couldn't if I remember correctly.
You remenber wrong since it was as easy as using the mouse wheel to make the camera closer or further away.
It's still a bit pointless since you'd want first person for guns and third person for melee, so it changes nothing.
03ba6a No.15645332

The thing about Hellgate was that it had a lot of QoL compared to other Diablo clones.
There's items to remove status effects and improve your resistance to their specific element like you have in similar games, but one cool thing they did was have Ctrl be a contextual Hotkey. Are you burning and you have an item that cures burning? Or simply taking fire damage and have that item? Press Control and you'll use it automatically.
Are you just moving forward and nobody is around but you have adrenaline pills with you? Press Ctrl and you'll go fast.
Same thing for skills that could be used with Shift instead, the most notorious example being the Sprint skill.
The game could end up being a bit repetitive since you weren't supposed to have too many skills but rather to rotate different weapon types instead.
However most weapons were pretty cool gimmicks and the classes themselves too. It makes a nice first impression but I suppose it bores you eventually since I never managed to finish it.
