Honestly the decision to raid the depot is probably what allowed Ronald and Minerva to survive the assault from Ausbruch as they pulled back to chase down squad E. Not that I really cared. I hated all of squad F because they were all total bootlickers for a CO that hid under the corpse of her sergeant while everyone else fought and got killed to the last man.

I sent Keigel. A 60 year old former drill sergeant that pushed himself back into active duty to protect the young in war. Sacrificing himself on such a mission is just a fitting end to an old war dog. plus lancers are even more worthless than they already were in the first game with the introduction of AT mortars, a super early demolition boost order, and tanks that only take one CP to move.

>best scout
>didn't even bother to read his bio that says he has a younger sister
In all honesty I think they did an ok but lazy job of soft fixing the scout rush issue by putting Gatling turrets fucking everywhere as I guess its an easier way than adding a "speed, units killed, units lost" ranking system found in literally every other tactical game.
It was also really nice to not have a scout commander that can take two other squaddies around everywhere on the map. until the game gives you an overpowered scout commander that can take two other squaddies around everywhere on the map, making the APC pretty pointless.
My favorite change they made was making it so Elite troops no longer get an AP boost so you can get A ranks on the first try.
Though I don't understand why they even bothered with smoke shells at all. In the first game they were kinda a major plot device and came in handy regularly after the mission that introduces them. In this one you just kinda research them as an optional thing and use them once to bypass the entire first encounter with snowvaria in two turns and then never really find a use for them ever again. I blame this mostly on the fact that tanks now move with only one CP making it so its better to just kill everything that you would have smoked out along with bunkers completely though realistically, vanishing from the enemies box of tricks long before you research smoke.
The last complaint is dragging out the not a Shamrock Gallian light tank with the exact same three weapon load out. But only this time the flame thrower is NOT ONCE useful on any map due to the fact that bunkers don't exist at all in the second half of the game. Why couldn't they have designed a "not an M24 chaffee" tank to take its place or some shit? Or give us the "not a stuG" tank destroyer that was cut from the first game? Speaking of which, there are no Imperial Tank destroyers in this game ether which is kinda too bad. It was the only tank design from the first game that wasn't retarded.
