MINECRAFT HORROR ADVENTURES
>What the fuck is this?
This is a play-with-/v/ type of thread in which I'm going to play Minecraft with a very specific ruleset and a bunch of mods to help me on my way. The rules are as follows:
>I pick the starting gear that I spawn for myself at the beginning of the journey
>I cannot build shelters, I can only seek shelter in randomly generated structures, but I can change them however I please. That means that I can rebuild them and barricade them as much as I want.
>I cannot stay in one shelter for more than one night, I need to get out of it before the next night comes.
>We pick an end goal together
>We can stay at a location longer if we can think of a challange to fulfil before moving on. If such a challenge appears, we will move on after finishing it.
>I'm not putting the game in hardcore mode, because I might want to check out some things after death, but if we die, that's it. We start over.
We are going to settle only after we finish the goal that we pick for ourselves.
>What's the catch?
The game is as I said, modded. There is a mod that spawns new structures in the world recurrent complex. But the main chunk of the mods are horror mods, making the gameworld much more dangerous than it was originally with enemies that are a threat to us both at night and at day.
Some things that can happen to us:
>We can get mauled by now far more intelligent zombies
>We can get murdered by weeping angels
>We can get mauled by a fucking bear
>We can get eaten by wolves
>We can get murdered by a shoggoth
>We can die of starvation
>We can run from demonic lovecraftian abominations and fucking die
>We can get murdered by a variety of SCP creatures Why do I have an SCP mod, knowing that SCP is now pozzed? Because there aren't that many horror mods for Minecraft
And many more.
We have ancient ruins to explore, giant castles to look into, eldritch realms to get swallowed by, deadly traps to fall into and shit like that. The current complex spawn rate is set to 1.5, which would be 15%, I can increase or decrease it if you want.
In short, get ready to be spooked.
I'm starting in a Minecraft Comes Alive generated structure, what you're seeing in my toolbar is all that I'm taking with myself. I have nothing else in my inventory.

There are a couple of mods that I'm using, if you want to recreate your experience yourself you can do it with just some core mods, but besides that there are some that I think improve the experience a lot.
CORE MODS
>Abyssalcraft
Can't have a creepy Minecraft playthrough without some Lovecraft. This mod adds rituals, monsters, a whole new corrupted biome with dangerous monsters and interesting stuff to find, and besides giving you some endgame to look towards, it will be one of main sources of danger during daytime as the monsters do not burn in sunlight.
>Weeping Angels
Not only do those fuckers increase the tension tenfold, they are dangerous both at day and at night. Not only that but this mod has a built-in jumpscare that is going to scare you from time to time whenever one of those fuckers appears. Absolutely vital for building spooks.
>Deadly Monsters
The monsters in Minecraft were kind of creepy at the very beginning, but with time they've become less so, so you need to spice up some of the night-time monsters with some new ones. Also includes some dayling ones too, so it makes the world generally more dangerous.
>Recurrent complex/Ruins
You absolutely fucking need one or another, because it's kind of boring to explore a world where there is nothing interesting in. Also, the whole "seek shelter only for a night" is only possible with this.
Additional Spooks
>By the Gods
A side mod to Abyssalcraft allowing you to summont Azathoth and fuck up your game.
>Defiled lands
Adds YET ANOTHER Terraria-esque corrupted biome with it's own list of monsters making the world darker than it is.
>SCP: Lockdown
Mostly allows different SCPs to spawn in your gameworld for additional spooks and danger.
>Zombie Awareness
Makes the easiest and dumbest enemy in the game more dangerous, makes you leave blood trails behind that zombies smell, zombies run for cover when in sunlight, they hear sounds, spawn in bigger numbers and look after light sources.
>Thaumacraft
Adding more arcane shit into your world seems like a fun idea. Also has monsters on it's own.
>Better Animals+
Now the wildlife is after us too. Adds normal wildlife as well as some hostile animals and a creepy deer-skellington miniboss that we might find in the wild. I do not use the base mod because that would fuck with some things in abyssalcraft and ruin the tension.
Helping yourself
>Camping
If we want to play a hobo character, we need some camping and backpack mods. The Camping Mod does both at the same time.
>Flan's mod or other gun mod
If you're playing against so many threats at once, you need to bring some /k/ to have any chance of survival. I will not be using vehicles for now because that would fuck up the atmosphere, that might change in the end game though, but come on, you cannot have spooky camping without some /k/
Stuff nice to have
>Minecraft comes alive
Adds a bit to the villages and makes you care a bit more for the deaths of the people who you meet on your way without getting in the way too much.
>Portable Craft Bench
You will be moving a lot so a bit of convenience can't hurt, seeing that it's a bit annoying constantly destroying the same workbench.

Let us chose the goal for this game, we probably might be playing even after accomplishing that goal, but if we do, we will settle somewhere either in ruins or in some village. The goal marks the end of our hobo phase, so it has to be something that we cannot accomplish immediately.
I have a few suggestions on how to start the game, but you might have your own.

By wealth I mean resources, you decide what numbers that should be and what resources I need. Diamonds are a given

This is an incredibly boring idea but also a completely workable one.

Continue until you get a Diamond Pick and Diamond Sword, some spare diamonds too I'll leave the amount up to you. After that, find a village you haven't been in yet, somehow mark the ones you have been in, and settle a distance away from it. Preferably in a mountain or a swamp if it's there.

This is a floater, a well known monster from slavic mythology that grabs strangers into the water and drowns them. Those motherfuckers, although not looking that creepy ingame, make the most awful of fucking sounds, following you everywhere where there is a pool of water. Very unnerving, but as long as you don't have to swim, you're safe.

Since the world in minecraft looks like earth, with earth plants and animals but no humans and such I made a modpack so that I could imagine it as being earth in the far future, and the player as being awakened from cryosleep.
I changed the models of most mobs for the ones used in the Odyssey resourcepack and for everything else I used the Better Vanilla resourcepack. This was so that they would look like the descendants of modern day animals. This is in 1.12.2 also.
The mods I used if anyone wants to know (there were more I wanted to use but my PC was shitting itself as it was):

Some of the armors like the Power Armor protect you really, really well against everything but phasers, which just cut right through them. At that point not-morlocks are not that dangerous anymore but robots can kill you very quickly. The jetpacks, nightvision goggles and other stuff are a nice plus.

Sounds to me like it's actually working really well. OP installed a shitload of dangerous monsters into the game, and one seemingly harmless little girl. Without actually knowing who or what the girl is, it would definitely be unnerving and most likely drive the player to attempt to kill her.
