I'm from /v/, I take everything seriously. And obviously it would be treated as a spin-off. The only good thing is that if it goes with the semi-canonical plot of the Nopon Archsage writing fanfiction, if only for how retarded and awesome it could possibly get. Was considering making Azurda's daughteru the Xenoblade 2.5 main character's alt blade since that'll use a new cast. Rex could discover that he has the power to preserve blade memories, a power opposite of Amalthus's cleansing, as his time as a master driver and fusion with Pyra's core crystal. However when blades are preserved they must be awakened by another driver so they can use new DNA to evolve into more powerful forms. Azurda's daughter combines his cells with Rex's first common, but her form takes on whatever the new driver accidentally awakened her as. Also would be cool to see Iona become a driver. Thought about making her drive the new Aegis because she was raised by Cole. Iona is an actor and producer but part time merc to help fund her troope. She fights with a European style rapier. As for new Aegis is actually the missing core of Malos, but is reborn as a boy around Rex's age and has amnesia. He uses water via remnants of gravity from his dark core to make liquid concentration of the cloud sea, thus power of deconstruction. He wants to return to Elysium so he can be reforged.

Fuck writing the rest because in the end it doesn't matter and fanfiction is cancer. DLC with Xenoblade 2 is done. I'll wait for the new IP to drop. I'm not expecting Monolith to make games on the scale of the original Xenoblade for the rest of this console generation and the next. I do expect Monolith's render engine be put to good use with smaller new IPs. Breath of the Wild and Skyward Sword were help made by Monolith in the credits. I remember the last thread (or two, how long has it been oh god) there was a bit of discussion about the different possible options for how Xenoblade X II could implement the Blade system to work with giant robots. Given how formulaic Xeno- games are, and how ingrained game mechanics are in the narrative (Xenogears gave an in universe explanation for save points of all things), I've actually come up with an idea for one that's not super autistic and awful, but not as well thought out as some of my dumber ones. If you want me to extend this thread well beyond where it probably should have died, I can give an outline of the mechanics, concepts, and a few story beats if you want. Worst case scenario, some marketer or dev fag can take my ideas, although I seriously doubt any of them visit, especially this thread.

The are mostly completely separate stories and are only connected in a very lose way. The fact that they're connected at all is something of a spoiler. You probably should play the first Xenoblade first, but it's not strictly necessary. There's only references to the first game right at the end of the second, but it's not needed to understand 2. It might be necessary depending on how further games go, but as far as which one you play first it doesn't really matter as long as you play both. As for the story, it really depends. Xenoblade starts as a simple revenge story before going off the rails into the usual Xeno- metaseries concepts of gods and the meaning of life. Xenoblade 2 starts off sort of anime before going the same route. Character development is overall pretty good in both, although the first one has more characters to develop. If I had to recommend any of the games, I wouldn't, or I would pick something like Xenoblade X or especially Xenogears because I want you to be fucking confused.

The thing is when you run in combat you're not attacking. Also since most of combat is still hit scans this is where foresight comes in. Foresight lets you see big attacks about 5 seconds before they are executed; maybe longer if you build your character with the right accessories. You can avoid the hit range or at least attempt to avoid most of the damage while running away from the threat zone. You can command allies to avoid attacks too.

That said I'm laying this style out for tomboy because she has a specific fighting style with her Monado-type blade. Tomeboy's role is an opportunistic attacker. She has fast mobility and decent reach to let her quickly slip in and out enemy blind spots to exploit their weakness. Tomboy's mecha on it's own would be a tank in the battle. He would block the enemy to keep it from moving near tomboy keeping her safe. Of course when tomboy pilots her mecha her speed is combined with mecha's raw power to make a blockade buster that can quickly road kill weaker mooks while having boosters to avoid kaiju's giga beam attacks.

PSI class can be what healers are suppose to be: support class. Support classes help the party with methods that indirectly affect combat like setting traps or mines, buffs and debuffs, etc. One example of a support class I have uses a pistol as a main weapon but uses mobility to quickly run around the battle to neutralize debuffs like bleed and topple. Though that'd be a gun class. A PSI weapon would be like a staff used to summon ether elements like Melia or bit balls like orbs.

Also consider giving each character a unique "super power" that is exclusive to them and they can use in all jobs. The heroine in my example, the tomboy, always has the super power of foresight available at all times. Why do mecha pilots have these super powers? It's because of the mecha pilot's biology. Mecha pilots are biologically superior to normal creatures because their physiology gives them multiple ether contact points on their body due to having a high concentration of synth nanocells. These nanocells manifest their excess ether into supernatural abilities like super strength, cellular regeneration, telepathy, echolocation, dragon transformation, etc. However, each power has a terrible cost that harms or disabled the pilot.

The telepath is a mute from birth. She has no way to speak to you directly with her voice. She has no vocalized thoughts nor mind voice either. She can read your mind and thoughts without you knowing. And she can send visions or feelings to you as well. There are some obvious ones as well. Super strength comes with a lack of intelligence. Echolocation means the user is blind. Cellular regeneration comes with a terrible appetite needing 5000 calories a day to not starve. And others.

Foresight is cursed to have the Xenoblade. And everything wants to murder you to claim the Xenoblade for themselves. Also foresight makes you watch the death of your loved ones twice. The second death is always real.

I'm sort of disappointed they didn't release models of any of the other bots. But I'm also a huge Transformers fag, so I just like the aesthetic of transforming robots. My first transforming robot toy wasn't even actually a Transformer. It was a Go Bot I found in my garage as a kid. I think it was Scooter. Actually, now that I think of it, for Xenoblade X II they should make the vehicle modes more important in combat. Maybe one of them turns into a tank or something? Try less ground based vehicles. Or just go full Diaclone and have robots that turn into dinosaurs because that's fucking cool. Asking for combiners, especially ones with free combination in mind, might be a huge mistake, but most forms of free combination are my style. Combiners, Headmasters, even just swapping weapons around. However, shit like Multiforce/Superlink combining robots so one basically just becomes pants for the other is not something I'm into. Symmetrical docking is cool, but it's unworkable as free combination unfortunately.

Sakurai already said that he doesn't have time to add Rex to the game. So I'm going to assume that he's given up on Xenoblade 2 as a new fighter outside of DLC. Even then with the introduction of Piranha Plant Sakurai wants to include characters he personally wants in the game himself over fan demand most likely.

Also to confirm Rex is not a playable character, in the direct they showed Pyra as a spirit. I'm certain without Pyra on the field Rex is worthless. Besides their dynamic is too much like ice-climbers and would have taken too much work to make by the deadline of this game. If Rex wasn't announced around E3 then he's not getting in. He'll probably be in the next Smash iteration on the next generation console if Monolith's new IP doesn't dethrone Xenoblade 2 as their best seller.

Then Pyra by herself is confirmed a spirit and most likely Rex by himself is one as well. If it is the one character per spirit rule and no incarnations except spin-off rules then that just fuck Rex's confirmation. If there's no easily explainable drawback to this form then it may as well be exclusive to a non-player character. Either that or the drawback of dragon form is the mecha itself. One with with the dragon mecha is cursed to live with the dragon's AI (soul) which has a mind of it's own and will take away control of the user's body in mecha form. The soul will even control transformed body parts autonomously without direct control of the user. Also no customizable mecha parts, which puts dragon at a disadvantage mid game to mecha pilots outside of the post game grind. And fuck non-elemental dragons. Dragons are the apex of elemental power. They either have an element or are titans. If you want a neutral type element for must of the game then darkness element will give dragonewt weakness to light, which will be a bitch to deal with mid-late game. Or if you need a not balanced but not too useful common element then water or wind can work. Ice, earth, electricity, and fire have a lot of general use advantages.

One thing is clear, dragonnewt will not be the hero due to her raw power alone. I've already mentioned my ideal hero (tomboy) having the ability of foresight, which is the most advantageous ability in the game where the only drawback mechanically is the game's plot. Though she'll be the most generalist statistically and flexible to build, but you need to min/max hard to give her a statistic advantage. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Kos-Mos is just the rarest Blade in the game. There's a really good thread on Gamefaqs called "Blade gachapon mechanics & pity system revealed and explained (datamined)" that explains how the fuck Blades even happen, statistically. The long and short of it is you probably don't want to bother pulling any Blades until you get your 4th or 5th party member. I also recommend not pulling Blades on Rex. It's mostly for story reasons (he gets a bunch of Blades during the story and I'll leave it at that).

Put two common blades on Rex for story reasons. Maybe Wulfric too because Wulfric has crit up blade art and break. Wait until you get 5th guy to pop crystals. Pop everything on 5th guy then. Give Nia Vess and Korra (for Launch and 10% ether boost, plus Korra sucks) if you have to in the meantime but give Nia nothing else. Your party will be 4th guy, 5th guy, and Nia until about chapter 6 when you will use Rex again as a heal slut. Depending on if you like Tiger Tiger you may side line Tora until you get Poppi's second and third forms. Poppi with the right parts is broke and will replace Rex as your attack blade.

It's unfortunate for the Xeno franchise to be stuck in so many different consoles, making it somewhat hard to jump into them. Just for Xenoblade Chronicles you need a Wii, Wii U and Switch. One could argue that with Dolphin, Cemu and soon™ Yuzu they're technically playable in PC, but the truth of the matter is that they're designed with the consoles capabilities in mind, and even then it's amazing how far they've pushed them.

Honestly hacking the Wii U would cover the first two, although that means being like me and actually owning a Wii U. However if you get into the extended Xeno- metaseries you get the easy to emulate Xenogears and the probably milady difficult to emulate Xenosaga games. Then you have that Xenosaga 1 & 2 remake for DS that never got translated, but has a different perspective on 2 and possibly different gameplay? I don't know what the deal is there, frankly, but I like the DS enough that I'd probably try it if somebody translated it. In the end though aside from Xenosaga and probably Xenoblade X you don't really need to play any game first. Just go with which one you think you'd like and move on from there. Although you also might want to read the Perfect Works for Xenogears, it sheds some light on some things, but 3 and 4 are practically covered in game anyway, at least in the relevance to Xenogears. I guess what I'm saying is you don't need to go too far, just do what you want. While understanding the Xeno- metaseries will give you new insight on a lot of things, you don't need to do that just to enjoy the game in front of you. First, I don't know shit about Smash leaks because I don't give a shit about Smash. Second, Smash U? It's for Switch. Third, don't believe leaks, they're rarely true and when you want them to be fake they're real. Fourth, we've seen characters that are already in the game as both spirits and Mii costumes, so at this point the only absolute de-confirmation is being an assist trophy. I have an idea for a moveset but fuck the Smash threads. I imagine all the Special (B) attacks would be Pyra's and Mythra's special attacks with the exception of down B that swaps them. Rex throws the Aegis to Pyra and Mythra for B and side B to do Flame Nova/Ray of Punishment and Blazing End/Lightning Buster respectively. Up B has Rex and Mythra/Pyra join for Sacred Arrow and Burning Sword. Burning Sword can be used as a recovery but Sacred Arrow cannot. This is because Rex gets different properties based on which blade he has equipped. With Pyra, Rex is heavier but slower, has stronger knockback for Smash attacks, and stronger throws. With Mythra Rex is faster, his jumps are twice as high, his basic attacks are faster and deal more raw percent, Rex has a little more dodge frames thanks to foresight, and his second jump has super armor like Yoshi's flutter jump, which is why no recovery for Sacred Arrow.

Final Smash is a chain attack with Tora and Poppi QT, either Nia or Mórag, and of course Pneumia with Siren.

As a note about Rex's own blade arts. They are all smash attacks with the exception of Anchor Shot, which is a grab and tether recovery. Double Spinning Edge is side smash. Sword Bash is up smash. Rolling Smash is down smash.

I thought about what other kinds of settings would be good for the Xeno series, but it has such a variety of backdrops it's hard to pick out just one. The XG backstory has 10,000 years of history to draw from, XS gives us a 4,000-or-so-year-old galactic government, and XB went off the reservation and started with fantasy settings despite including the one setting closest to the present. It has elements of space opera, cyberpunk, and fantasy. Somewhere in all of that there has to be a premise that hasn't been overused. So what would that be?
