I don't understand why MMOs allow alts to play such a big role given their nature. Especially when the game is just the same content over and over for each new alt you play. There's no new twist you can give to your playthrough, class specific content, or anything that would make it interesting. To me it goes completely against what an MMO should be. But then again, all MMOs today go against what MMOs should be.

endgame is just farming gearscore (reminder: 10 attempts per day, 30 attempts per week PER CHARACTER(epics are tradable between characters)) until you reach max, grinding out useless skills such as fishing etc, trophy hunting, finishing all quests/exploration star things or die of old age

I just hit level 30 and so far the combat is the most boring slog possible, somehow with even less depth that WoW

well as is it kinda works from the front, on the side it looks a bit off as the sock ends and makes the foot look a bit taller than it should be.

Looks like none of you are playing thief, it's the only class that doesn't have an I win/spammable button but requires actual micromanagement and proc fishing. And since it's not ranged you can't just stand back out of danger, but unlike every other melee class you aren't tanky as fuck/get free HP which means you actually have to dodge.

It's got lots of theorycrafting potential given it has arguably the largest diversity in skill trees, either relying on DoT application, proc fishing/SP management or a combination of the two.

Also despite having to put in far more effort than any other class, other classes can easily outDPS it. Only the very best thieves will outDPS other classes, and probably even they get beaten by the very best of every other class. Which sucks because some people are actually kicking thieves from their raiding parties.

you are understanding it perfectly. in fairness i've only been playing about a week or so (and i only say this because maybe there'll be an event in the future that changes things or something but i doubt it) but so far you absolutely cannot buy the user generated content or use any of the premium features without buying premium currency. the only exception to this is channel or world chat; you get some free vouchers to use it through normal leveling and questing yes you have to pay real bux, albeit extremely small amounts but still, to use the big chat channels

The original Maplestory aesthetic was lightning in a bottle and they shouldn't have tried to replicate it, but this game seems fine in its own right.

You get access to more skills to play with faster hypothetically, yes, but it's not very efficient to get more things to press when you have a few obviously correct buttons, and while the new system makes it much more reasonable to respec the total lack of class variety makes the game blander.

Quick comparison:

>new thief = 12 total actives by current cap and far fewer passives to choose from

>OG magician = 5 active skills by level 30 and 15 more to choose from by 60

>new wizard = 12 total actives by current cap and far fewer passives to choose from, and because they integrated elements into the main class you have to choose from maybe 4 to get max effect.

don't know how you're dying because even with ranged tier defense, I can tank multiples of every attack, except for explicit 1 shots and even then, not always

I keep double-taking and see no P2W bs so that's a surprise for a nexon game. Seems like this game understands what made the first maplestory so fun in the first place and it's focused entirely on the social component but I still hate the combat so I'll hope for a revamp like they did with the first maplestory except this time it'll be good hopefully. The Halloween event is better than any MMORPG right now I think too, tons and tons of free and actually useful stuff.
