What games are there that I could play while watching a video?

I know it sounds autistic as fuck but, I just find it really comfy to just sit back and play something while watching a podcast or something.

b7ec83  No.15581984

Any grand strategy game.

>>15581984

Are there any that are particularly good? I think the last strategy game I played was age of empires 2 and that was over a decade ago.

>what did he meme by this???

Some podcasts are in video format.

And on regards to turn-based games what ones should I check out? I know you said to pick any, but I've never really play any turn based games before and, I don't want to get recommendations from nomalfags with shit taste in vidya.

1d8ff1  No.15582200

I play tons of gameboy/GBA games while watching stuff because they fit in a nice tiny window.

Try an RPG, or a strategy game, as other anons pointed out.

RPGs often have cutscenes and dialogue between major quests, so be prepared to pause.

Classics/Great RPGs include:

Final Fantasy VII

Arc the Lad

Earthbound

Legend of Legaia

Paper Mario

The Megami Tensei / Persona series

I'm not huge into strategy games, but there's always FTL. You can stop the action and think about your moves, put in orders, etc.

>>15582227

I was thinking about RPGs but the thing that worries me is that I might miss an important detail and accidentally fuck myself over. I don't really think an rpg would be a good type of game to do that with. That is unless it's a game that has a waypoint system, or it's trash that just holds your hand adn spoonfeeds you.

RPGs that keep track of quests in a clear, referenceable way exist. Avoid 90s JRPGs if you're worried about that.

Final Fantasy 7 is a bad choice. Combat is supposedly turn based but you still have a limited timeframe to do your action.

Legend of Dragon on the other hand has limitless turns, despite having near identical combat.

Unironically Devil May Cry 4. I've been able to get way up the bloody palace while watching other shit on a second monitor

You can switch combat mode to "wait" in FF7 and it pauses ATB while you make choices.

e702a6  No.15583544

Elite Dangerous

c43cb2  No.15584061

Tokyo Mirage Sessions

Disgaya1

Freecell

Fallout 4 is decent for this since there's nothing to really give a shit about

Maplestory with a controller. It's basically the entire game. Just grind and turn on a youtube playlist

That's only after you've gotten good at the game. Also I suck ass with Dante so I can't do that. My brain is too slow.

I really like playing stalker or fallout on my desktop while watching stuff on my laptop, people are always sperging about the dual screen meme but I think having several computers is more fun and practical. So I feel you OP, watching stuff while playing games is very comfy and I also second >>15581984 , you could just pirate a total war game and watch stuff while playing it (I would never buy those personally).

>>15582317

Legend of dragoon has the QTE thing in combat tho which may take some focus to perform, I'd suggest legend of legaia or chrono trigger/cross (although trigger also gives you ATB).

bdd923  No.15586261

Seconding SMT/Persona.

Silent Hunter III is largely just plotting your movements on a map, it would work but I prefer to go full autism/atmosphere and use pencil+paper to do stuff while playing it.

Dwarf Fortress/Rimworld is just handing out plans to your minions while you periodically pause/unpause, it would do well.

Civ IV: Beyond the Sword would be an excellent choice.

XCOM would do it.

I've never played the Elite games but Elite:Dangerous sounds like a good idea from that anon. For alternatives I'd recommend X3 and Freelancer, both great games, although Freelancer is some ultimate tier comfy, up there with STALKER and Silent Hunter, so I prefer to play it with no distractions.

Some buttonmashers may do all right, I think I did something similar playing through God of War 2 and it was pretty fun.

Yea I could never really understand the logic behind shitting on people with multiple monitors.

Seriously, even if you're not an autist like me that always has something playing in the background while doing something, having an extra monitor can be a godsend even for just day to day stuff.

I do that a lot. The key is to find something that's all action and doesn't require you to pay attention to a story or a bunch of details and doesn't demand complex strategies, because then you'll lose focus on whatever you're watching/listening to. Here are some game suggestions:

Doom wads

Hack-and-slashers like Diablo, Torchlight, and Sacred

Descent, though I'm not sure how well it plays without a joystick

Shmups

Tetris or other puzzle games

Skyrim

Max Payne
