Yeah I feel like "open world" has killed the game from the start. Something I really liked about the early Harry Potter games were they were clearly inspired by Ocarina of Time so they were focused on big story events told in a linear fashion. Like every lesson had a big dungeon you had to do to test a new spell.
This game was so memorable actually it resulted in people hacking it to be moddable. (since it ran on Unreal 1) and are still modding it to this day.

Is there a way that this could actually be a good MMO? The best I could come up with on short notice was

Although beyond balancing people flocking to only 2 of the 4 houses would be a big issue, my other issues include making it feel like you aren't just easily cycling through characters (no attachments to an investment in your time) and making it so events don't feel redundant (oh no, dementors are trying to suck out the souls first years, for the 15th time in two weeks) and stay fun.
But again, I'd also be fine just seeing the customization system being good enough for people to want to steal for other things

Also the thing about Bully is that the premise is built around the fact you play a delinquent who feels no obligation to actually attend classes allowing you to skip them. A Harry Potter open world game would probably be of the sort where the game-world time essentially freezes, only advancing forwards when the player does the main story missions, some of which will involve attending classes.

It's not chemicals, it's female puberty being triggered by fat (instead of rough age like boys) and thus occurring much earlier with modern nutrition (and childhood obesity). The agricultural revolution won't be for another century but in a rich, "first world" (as it would later be called) country like the UK would have most people getting much better nutrition than the previous century.

It's the best selling book series of all time. It's less a question of whether it's popular and more whether there's enough of a cross-over of those interested in HP and those interested in CRPGs. There's certainly enough interest in existing Harry Potter vidya to suggest so.

One question about polyjuice potion, how much hair do you need?
Do you need an intact hair follicle base part or just any cut off a strand at the top? If it's just the latter, hairdressers would access to fuckload of usable hair that they cut off.
Imagine students trying to cut of chunks of other students hair (or just wait for a stray hair to fall off) just so they could make polyjuice potion and run around as them causing mischief.
