Is it actually well written so that you end up caring about what is happening/happened so it doesn't feel like fap material, or is it just yet more utterly unnecessary and poorly written pointless Now Then, Here There style "rape makes it more real" idiocy?
I swear I could be an immeasurably wealthy man if I had half a penny for every three novels that involved rape without any proper purpose to it other than to make the audience uncomfortable, give a character "depth" (ie a chip on their shoulder) and/or just because it's more "real" and "dark".
