What I don't get is why there are so few mech games that are actually well known, titan fall could've spawned a new generation of fps games with mech centric gameplay but 1 flopped pretty badly with little to do and just not being all that worth it and 2 released around the same time as battlefield or a new cod game.
All I want is titan fall tier mech gameplay with a kickass story and a good selection of guns and big mech swords to stab things with.

Absolute bullshit and I'll never understand why they did this besides (((DLC))). Their excuse was that it wouldn't keep a consistent FPS but I don't see why that would matter when they were able to do this shit before on inferior hardware. Now every time there's a tournament, you need a wi-fi connection just to play local. As for custom soundtracks. They had the great idea to where you can select 3 songs for every mobile suit instead of selecting which songs you wanted out of every song in the game and have them play at random whenever you fight.

I remember dropping it out of boredom, because I couldn't really follow the story as I don't know jap and all mechs plying exactly the same.
Even transforming ones played pretty much the same except when in jet form you could barely control them.
As opposed to that I really fucking loved Gundam Vs Zaft 2 or some shit based on Seed Destiny. I also couldn't follow the story, but gameplay was top notch and all mechs played differently and you could actually control transforming ones in jet mode.

Actually yeah post your favourite mechs, and optionally why you like them.
For the longest time my favorite Savior Gendum. Yeah I know it comes from arguably the shittiest Gundam series to date, but I just love its simple transforming design without visual melodrama of Wing or Zeta.
That was until Exia hit me like avalanche of amazing fucking design all around, which is ironic since I find Avalanche Exia to be hot trash.
Even without transformation it's easily the coolest mech I have ever seen. Like what the fuck it's so good.
It's still sinful of being overpowered protagonist mech, but it's so well designed, so well animated, that I can't have any negative feelings towards it.
Needless to say its simpler cheaper R2 redesign as well as its upgrades are nowhere near it.
And to round it all up I guess I'll give you Cascade Range, the poster mech of Armored Core the Last Raven.
It's not the most functional or flash build but I just like how it looks both simple and sinister.
Its appearance in-game is quite underwhelming, it's just regular mid-rank arena enemy without any story or character, you just defeat it once and move on. It's pretty weak too.
I just like how it looks.

You can play as Savior in Federation VS Zaft 2 plus and Seed Battle Destiny. It also appears in some SRW games.
Exia is playable in pretty much ever fucking gundam game since its debut in a show, except Gundam Musou 4. For some fucking retarded reason I'm still mad about it tbh.
And CR is a build from Armored Core. Also you can use it in pretty much all previous AC games right down to AC3 minus the head and I think the rail gun, which were added in LR.

Even though I know AC6 is never ever at this point with daemon x machina looking to be the justification to never make another mech game. I really do hope if they DO do a AC6 they just reboot the franchise. The story is just silly and takes itself WAY to seriously for what it is anymore. It doesnt help that the last two games have had a story so thin its damn near transparent. With so little to go off of, the world just seems… non-existant? Like, the game assures us that a world exists, but it's really hard to get that feeling when every single environment is either a desert, or an abandoned facility/city. It's been something I've despised about the AC franchise since 4, because 4 started the trend. The other issue, is just the look of the games. While I wasnt a huge fan of the aesthetics of 4/FA/5 I thought it was fine enough. But the aesthetics of VD are just terrible. People joked about shooters from the early 2010's being brown, but holy fuck do those games have nothing on the color pallet of VD. If it's not brown it's a washed-out grey. Fuck, they even made it so your AC paint was stifled in terms of vibrancy. Not to mention they thought that putting this constant dust-storm of shit on all the maps was a good idea, leading people to not be able to see SHIT. Which is fine if you use lock-on weapons, but utterly a disaster if you use free-aim weapons.
4 was a fucking mistake. everything wrong with AC started in some way with 4.

I know that. Honestly though? It may as well not be connected, as the only thing connecting the two, is the wreckage of LYNXs, as well as the appearance of 'black glint', both of which only appeared in VD if I remember correctly. V COULD of been something, but the fact that you killed LITERALLY EVERYONE last raven-style, it sorta ruined the ability for the game to have any sort of connecting tissue.
If FROMSOFT actually gave some thought into giving AC an actually story again. With more then 3 other cardboard cutouts as characters, it would probably be somewhat better received.
