I didn't see any threads for this game, please fuck my face and point me to an existing one. What do you guys do to enhance your fun in the game? I haven't done much, myself. I managed to make a city out of a wanderer start that brought in millions of cats, and mowed down guerillions of raiders and solicitors. Trying the Holy Sword start now, since I want to return a sense of vulnerability to the game (and avoid getting caught in city manager hell).

I only have 12GB, and manage fine. 8 is dicey. If you can, try to torrent a version of it to get an idea of how hard it hits. The game needs a lot of optimization, either way. The more people you have in your faction, the worse the performance gets (my retarded thesis being it has to likely simulate multiple cells, assuming you have characters far apart from one another). I also couldn't bear it not being on my SSD.

i dont think it can be optimized since it runs in unity, alsoi think the game works similar to the Stalker A-Life, so i imaginethat it simulates everything but it doesnt load the graphical stuff like textures of the whole world and only fully "simulates" the zone where the player is (or where the player is focusing if you got your guys spreaded arround) where the other parts only "simulates" positions and basic stats (you can leave one of your party members working far away in something and he will keep doing that even if you leave them there)

Yeah, that's why I ended up moving it over to my ssd. And if you're right, then it only confuses me more as to where this performance-killing bloat is. It could have something to do with how it manages squads. I cracked open my old save folder, and a single save had over 700 dust bandit platoon files. Importing seems to fix that. On my HS run I'm steady 60.

I've only sent one expedition of 8 40-50's down there. Never again. I made it all the way to sniper valley, and then ran into a handful of skin bandits who outnumbered and outgunned me by no small measure. At least I could outrun them lol

I'm tempted to make a squad of 5 guys, and try to take that on.

I remember my most effective playthrough had exactly 12 members in 3 squads:

>2 farmers/cooks

>3 crafters

>1 thief + 1 Trader

>5 soldiers

The farmers/crafters were mostly automated to do easy stuff and keep a stock of food around while pumping up their skills. Once they reached the 70's in their skills, I started investing into proper weapons for my soldiers.

Ocassionally, my soldiers would grab food for a week and set out to explore and raid places. They take a long, long ass time to train, but when you average 60 in every stat, the game gets a lot easier.

Whenever the soldiers came back and had to rest/heal, I'd take the thief and the Merchant for a spin. Thief steals, merchant holds merchandise with his pet bull and they head off to another town to sell their crap plus wathever we produced.

I'm thinking of moving the game to an SSD, getting another RAM chip and using some popcap unlocker to make a 150 population city, but I'd imagine training an army that big would be a nightmare.

Just get the recruitable prisoners mod, and kidnap your recruits from nearby cities. I have a vanguard squad of masterwork/edge 1 inquisitors that eat beating hearts for breakfast.

Recruiting them isn't the hardpart. I never missed hiring people in Vannilla, and with an Increased Spawns mod, you'll find 5-6 guys on Inn's that join you for 2000-3000 cats.

The problem is training them to decent combat levels. I noticed the training dummies still seem to work past lvl 15, but very slowly. Strength training (running with bags of rocks) also works, but micro-managing 30 guys running around with that, is a shitload of autism.

I personally feel Kenshi is best enjoyed with a small band of guys settling their Outter Heaven somewhere in the wastes, mainly because the UI is ass for anything else, but maybe that will change one day.

The new map is only for unstable? I think I'll wait, last time I played unstable, it royally fucked up a saver 30 hours in with a floating building my guys could get in, but not out, after auto-saving my 5 soldiers inside the place.

It makes a world of difference, even if it isn't entirely fulfilling. I get a couple seconds where the game needs to render the interior of a building, but it's far superior to the hell I went through with HDD's. I'm just scared that the game will eat through space. Pic related, over 3gb of space taken up by the save files, and most of the platoons mentioned are just ghosts that are dead/despawned and replaced with new roamers.

On another note, does anyone have any lore on the fogmen? I've had a few speculations, but I wanted to see what someone else thinks first.

I think there was a mod that fixed that, or did regular cleanups. A short fix for that is also to import your faction into a new map.

They're friendly chaps that smoke weed all day and would like to share it with you. Everyone should visit and make their base in the middle of the fog. That's a great way to make friends very fast.

There's some sort of facility north of them that appears to have leaked some sort of chems down. The fogmen appear to only have princes, and I'm guessing that's a mutation induced by those chems. The lack of a Queen robs them of purpose/will since they all follow the mind of the closest prince. The thing is, since there's a lot of princes, and they're quite near each other, they might be territorial and on edge all the time. That would explain why they're so aggressive, doubly so when you're carrying a Prince's head. No idea why they eat you, but I hear greenlanders are a good source of protein, so maybe that's it.

I figured it had something to do with a missing queen, seeing as they're so aimless. As for the whole eating thing, I think it's more ritualistic than feeding. I've beaten down a group of them before, and any that I stuck on the spikes would be eaten in a similar manner. What does the eating symbolize? How much of their princes' fucked up mindsets can be blamed on the chems, and how much on the absence of a queen?

Yeah it does work, only thing is I'm based right next door to the hub, and any time I've imported the results have been… well, see pic 2 for my daily routine.

One time I had nonstop raids from cannibals. Didn't know my workers were tasty enough to cross half a continent for.

You're half-wrong, half-right.

The brain parasites simply cut the link from Hivers to their Hive. They're called Deadhivers because they appear to be dead to the other hivers since they can't "feel" them. That's where all those independent Hivers you see in bars come from. The Fogmen still appear to have a sort of hive-connection because of the way they speak and how they behave (each prince group travels like a mini-hive). The Fog-hivers simply have a fucked up hierarchy because there's no queen. I also just remembered: one reason for them to "eat" bodies is oviposition. Plenty of animals do it, and when it comes to sci-fi, oviposition is usually an oportunity to mix the genes of one species (fog-men) with the gens of the victim.

One's a matchlock, one's a shotgun. As far as I could tell there wasn't any sound, or maybe I was just playing on too fast a setting. Looks are fine, if a bit wonky, but that's the crossbows too.

They need ammunition just like any other ranged weapon, and they do a fuckload of damage for a comparatively long reload time.

I've been raided 4 times (bandits x2, ninjas, squids) , had 1 trader visit (hive) and had a "prayer day" visit from holy nation.
