Personally I like it. It has a lot of action and duels between the main characters, and a lot of panty shots. It follows the story of a group of schools that house teens with the souls of former great chinese generals, Namely the generals of the Three Kingdoms period of china, or more widely know as the guys from the Dynasty warriors games I guess.
The three main groups are the school that represents Wu, which are the main cast mostly, until halfway through where you get the sorta origin story and some episodes of the school that is the shu kingdom. And then theres the biggest school which keeps conquering other schools, which represents Wu. The main cast which centers around the Wu school has the protagonist, this girl, being the reincarnated soul of Sun Ce, the little conquerer. though halfway through when the Wu school meets the Shu school you get a bunch of episodes from the shu school with the girl with guan Yus reincarnation and the rest of the Shu generals and strategists like Zhuge Liang.
Most of the fighting is centered around duels between the generals, like the protagonist against the girl with the soul of Guan Yu, the girl with the soul of Lu Bu, the god of war, etc. Though later on there are some full on school war battles when it ramps up between the biggest school trying to conquer them.

Other then that attack, defense or magic and md are completely equipment dependent.

You should just try the Tenjou Tenge manga. It's basically a fighter/brawler in a high school setting but insane, gory, lewd as fuck (including high impact sexual action) and in comic form. The author drew hentai and is a Tekken fanboy (he has even designed some costumes for it and a character for Soul Calibur), so that explains a lot a things.

At this point in time I think it was pure luck that DMC3/ SE was perfect.
DMC 1 was a bumpy start but you could see their intentions.
DMC 2 was going almost full retard.
DMC 3 was perfect.
DMC 4 was the start of the end.
Gameplay wise it was better than 3 but storywise I couldn't give less a fuck about tsundere Nero and his babydoll.
Also here started the pandering to a newer audience and the replacement of the main character.
DmC was just heresy and capcom sold the franchise out for the bad attempt of getting some extra shekel.
DMC5 follows in 4ths footsteps with an extra large portion of DmC added to it.

Inclined to give a hard disagree here, they simply gave newer players an option with nero, and made dante more complex by before by allow style switching. DMC4s flaws are less directoral decisions and more it getting rushed out the door. Its mechanically sound

The whole reason why Nero exists is because the Dev Team was burned out about Dante wanted something new to work with.
Itsuno said this himself in an interview.
If Nero was just a side character to push the plot for one game like in DMC2 with Lucia, it would be forgivable.
But Nero was implemented as a permanent character which will take over the series.
The Games always started with Dante starting a new adventure by meeting a new side character and ended with him either having the side character as new side kick or leaving him.
See Trish, Lucia and Lady.
But Dante was always the center at the end of the day.
Maybe its just me sperging about the Nero saga being too long. But they invested too much time and effort into Nero, to put him aside.
And as Itsuno said, DMC5 will be the last Game with the Sparda Sons.
I don't think Capcom will finish the DMC Series when they're hitting good sales, but rather let the series continue with Nero as new young MC and V as his side kick.
