Can you defeat Bell Gargoyles?
Because apparently they are the hardest boss in the video gaming history. Nowadays everyone suddenly became just as bad as DSP when it comes to this game. Even most respectable and popular twitch streamers can't progress past them.
If you can defeat Bell Gargoyles you're probably exceptional person.

I was going to say, I played through the game the first time as a tank and barely had any issues. I think it’s more that they don’t know how to build their character and try to make some super balanced build instead of choosing 1-3 things to be really proficient at then ignoring the rest. Mix that with being genuinely bad at vidya and it creates the perfect storm… but still, I’d like to see the gameplay of somebody that bad at the game.

If you were overleveled then yeah you could block through everything. By this I mean during boss fights where I would see these players just walk right up to the boss, tank as much of their hits as possible and then attack a few times once the boss left an opening and retreat and repeat. Hold block, attack a few times, and walk back. Barely any active input or strategy. A lot of these bad players do this by just blocking through everything, usually with heavy armor and/or high poise, if they're real shitters then add in a great shield too. It's an incredibly boring to play because it just becomes "hold down blocking while you wait for the opening". I can't see how that low amount of interactivity is any fun. And as >>15494575 says dodging is even more effective, but you need just a little extra amount of interactivity and reaction speed/hand-eye coordination. Something too much for many of these bad players.

I'm not really sure what happened with me and the Souls series. It took me so long to beat Phalanx and after that, I just felt tired playing the game. I bought DaS on PC and again, got as far as the first boss in the Undead Parish and just gave up on it. Then I had DaS2 as a present, and while I got stuck at first, in Heide's Tower of Flame because I thought that was the first area you're meant to go to I managed to beat Dragonrider and gradually made my way through the game, without summoning too many times.
After that, I went back to DeS and DaS and I fared so much better and really enjoyed the games. I hit a few brick walls in both games but I managed to beat them solo. By the time I got back round to playing them, the playerbase was pretty low (or there was an issue with my connection), so summoning wasn't an option unless I would wait around for 15+ minutes, which was just annoying. The Bell Gargoyles, aren't difficult at all. If you can make it to that point in the game, you can deal with these guys, even with non-upgraded equipment which I did on my first attempt, died twice but figured out the boss pattern. I didn't really get parrying down until I played DaS3 and even then I'm shit at it. Reality is, as long as you manage stamina and go light with your equipment, you don't need a lot of the stuff the game gives you. Sure, upgraded equipment speeds up how long it takes to kill something but it doesn't really stop you.

Only after BB I realised you could just dodge, and while some places of the game became more difficult, it also became less fun. Shields seem to be a large part of the gameplay, and dodging erratically sometimes just feels a bit wrong, even if it does take a bit more skill especially in DaS3 bosses with tons of attacks such as Demon Prince.

If you haven't beaten Dark Souls on level 1 with only a club you can't really say you've beaten Dark Souls.

club is easy mode, scales great with strength and almost everything is weak to crush.

Now do it without power within, the red tearstone ring, and a chaos club with 10 humanity. In fact, why don't you just use your fists or a broken straight sword.

So has everyone flocked to to the remaster of the first dark souls or is there still some life in the original PC version? Had a hankering to play again so curious

yeah club is very powerful and makes any low level run very easy.
harder is starting as the sorcerer class and not leveling up as they don't have the strength to use any of the clubs/maces/axes. you're limited to the dagger, straight sword and two handing the long sword. after you get dark bead its super easy but a full melee only run would be challenging.

online I'm not sure. I have a feeling they will be turning off online for the original game at some point if they haven't already. If you have to play online then I guess remastered is the only way to go but I'd recommend pirating the original if you just want to play solo / challenge run. original has better mod support and a nice back catalog of mods like aggro mod, scorched contracts mod, grave lord mod etc.

I made an all melee fighter that was a int build but with no spells.
It abused bleed as all my two weapons were barbed short sword and painting guardian sword, and barbed shield.
Painting Sword scales S rank with Int when enchanted so I could shit out 400 damage a swipe with dagger moveset with bleeding to boot.

It makes me sad just how much they phoned the remaster in and all it’ll manage to do is kill the online for the old game and split the community.

I did that fight without pyromancy. The only bosses I killed with pyromancy was Gwen and Manus. In fact, I didn't even know pyromancy was a viable strategy until I got stuck in the DLC.

i beat the bell gargoyles on my first try, what does that say about me? granted i watched a video of it beforehand to learn about the tail weapon, but other than that it's the same as souls combat in general: time attacks and roll like there's no tomorrow. i thought the ds2 gargoyles were more difficult since there were more to dodge.

not a difficult game at all when you play as a sorcerer and just spam homing crystals with sunlight spear

i had a level 7 giant dad i camped out the undead church with even if they had some fuckery on their side i just used "firestream?" whatever the spammy as fuck pyromancy was but you cant really do anything pre gargole that can get damage threw giants armor and the zwihander, o god the zwihander in tight spaces could just fug an entire party but hot shit you only need 16 strength to 2 hand and they just give it to you right away, i felt justified as i thought people should just play the game single player rather than begging for help, kinda felt like a dick but then trying to invade in DS 3 broke me of that pretty fucking quickly with their level 120 babysitters that drug their fat asses threw the game, the countless disconnects or the fucking fight club wannabes that got pissed the moment someone used an estus flask and had their hacked bouncer "take out the trash"

First couple times through, they are kind of surprising and hard to keep track of.. but once you figure out their very limited moveset, they're pretty easy to just rush down and end them without a lot of overcomplicated slow and methodical bullshit.
