I've been thinking of making a RTS game in which you don't have direct control over your troops but rather just execute algorithms that you can write yourself. The idea would be that you "play" as the HQ and only give algorithmic commands to your troops. Your troops would need either wired or wireless communication link to the HQ in order for you to see shit or give new instructions for your troops. Wired link would be more secure but could be sabotaged by the enemy while the wireless radio link could be detected by the enemy and give them vision and possibly it could be jammed.
Then some mad programmer-pros could write complicated routines for commando troops that could operate within the fog of war with you having zero information about what the hell they're doing because they're just following a premade script and they have no communication link to the HQ. People could share their scripts with each other and stuff like that.
I got so many ideas and it all sounds really awesome in my head but I'll probably never implement any of it because a) I'm not that smart b) giving so much liberties to the player would probably cause some unexpected problems with hackers etc and c) the potential audience for this game would narrow down to people who both enjoy (macro) RTS and knows how to program (in other words, no one).
