I only tried the first Walking Dead game but didn't finish it. That sort of linear very and contrived game doesn't appeal to me. I remember being annoyed at being forced to slip over on some blood even though I saw it and specifically tried to not slip on it. Right from that point I was put off.
Stability wise it seemed to work for me but I read lots of posts complaining about later games and saw a few vids showcasing ridiculous bugs. My impression was they steadily got worse. For such simple games from the programming point of view that's mystifying. A growing diversity / pajeetifcation / blue hair infection seems like a likely cause. I guess too they probably also had incredibly poor tools, exacerbating the problem. Any good programmers would have quit very early on looking at the massive decline in sales.

I played the first Walking Dead because i got it from the humble bundle. At the first look it was not that bad but that biggest fuckup is that your choices have no impact whatsoever. nah, they were shit, unless you were a complete noob to the genere, i remeber i never had any trouble with any puzzle, most of the time the number of puzzles to complete, items in my inventory and interactions in the map were very limited so puzzles could be solved with a few minutes of trial and error
try solving Monkey Island or King Quest (the clasic ones) by trial and error and you may take at least a day per puzzle

Thank god Brote suffered through that garbage so we didn't have to. Intentionally failing every prompt and showing just how much the game would play itself (and how arbitrary it was when you actually had to succeed at something), the pointless QTEs and movement during what could have just been a cutscene, saying nothing at every dialogue prompt and showing that the game would keep railroading you along with nobody reacting to your constant silence, pointing out the laughable "cinematic" techniques (characters walking away for a few steps while doing a monologue and then turning back dramatically being the most abused), and the horrendously simple puzzles that he solved by accident while being completely shitfaced. Good times.
Telltale produced nothing of note for years and the death of the studio is deserved for their failure to innovate and overestimation of their importance to gaming. Good fucking riddance. May all those soy-infused "narrative designers" never find employment in the industry again.
