Was watching this presentation of the Atomontage Team at the Slovak Games Developers Association. Atomontage works on highly advanced Voxel Engines.
This is a very insightful video of what the current progress of Atomontage's work and gives a few status updates for the project.
First half of it is just the team explaining who they are, but toward the end some things stood out to me:
-57:40 Tech demo of the level of facial animations possible.
-105:40 New demo of a polygon based scene with animation
-112:00 Use of Shaders on a voxelized object that was originally polygonal.
-115:30 Voxelized Crocodile. Not much new tech wise except that it uses imported animations.
-122:22 And the Golden Question, How much storage data? "5gbs for the crocodile" How will this be viable? "This is uncompressed data, when compressed file size can be reduced by 85%"
-143:00 Another excellent question, How much memory does it take to run the program? >22gb of ram for one crocodile. -144:40 Yikes
Forget where, but they mention they are going to be making an office where more than one person can start working on the engine.
Well what do you guys think of the info in this presentation?
