Any size is technically fine if you don't mind managing space between your computer

Thanks for the info on the MicroSD cards, anon.

If the adapters are installed properly, will there still be an upper limit on how much available disk space can be read? Like, does Vita refuses reading a MicroSD card which capacity is beyond certain GBs?

Also, can Vita read ebooks, like pdfs and epubs?

400GB doesn't seem like an overkill if I want to store my entire library in it.

>>15450161

So far 400GB is the max limit you can currently get in the market of microSDs, and that shit works fine like I've shown earlier. Back with the PSP, 200GB was the upper limit before the system and hack would start shitting themselves (with a 256gb microsd from my experience), not to mention the XMB menu itself would take more time to load the game list, and the increased waiting time to save a game after sleep.

What you might face on Vita however is an eventual corruption of the database (which led to game bubbles to turn completely white after a hundred of icons have been already refreshed) which can sometimes happens when you technically installed too much shit, lets say +150 which is a ridiculous number to reach unless you start getting deep into weebshit+VNs (hence why I use two separate hacked Vitas, one for PS1/PSP/Vita games, the other for VNs).

In general most Vita games take up between 2-3.5GB, and indies are under less than 1GB, although you can still meet certain titles that takes a lot more space often due of DLCs+updates (such as Valkyrie Drive, Senran Kagura Estival Versus, Gundam Breaker 3, Sengoku Musou 2 HD, Superbeat Xonic)

No idea about the homebrew scene however, on the idea of reading ebooks on the Vita.

EDF3 Portable (or 2017 in the West) is the actual prequel of 4.1, with a bunch of exclusive enemies (assault drones, mini-hectors, the big monster Varak and its cyborg counterpart). It's originally a Xbox360 game ported on Vita, with some new content such as being able to play Pale Wing

EDF2 Portable V2 is the sequel of the first one from the PS2 (both having their own storyline/universe), and like the name implies, it's a portable re-release on the Vita (which was ported on the PSP beforehand but with the slideshow experience) with extra content such as the Air Raider class (no possibility to call for vehicles however, you only get to ride vehicles that are spawned in the mission maps, but you get 3 weapon slots in exchange) and new weapons. It's generally viewed as the "classic" game among the fanbase.

As far as the online goes, I recall the online was still active in Japan with EDF3 Portable a few months ago, and people still play EDF2 V2 too although the nip online of EDF2 is separated from the rest of the world if you dont use the jap version because of a patch.

Framerate-wise, EDF3 Portable runs as much as you'd expect a EDF game on console, but still playable imo. EDF2 V2 actually runs rather good on Vita, and the sole way there to really kill the framerate (like 5fps) is to bring a flamethrower on a bunch of ants.

>>15450629

It's more that it's been revealed a while ago that SG;Elite gutted a large of the original VN script in order to favor the anime cutscenes. I'm not a fan on how 5pb is now trying to make crossovers between its franchises, with the Robotics Elite sequel. I preferred the small references but without making a direct link, in the older titles

The ones that don't do piracy in the first place. Who used to actually talk in this thread. But that seldom happens aside of the odd burst of actual game talk when the majority posts are just following along or nipping at the hacking scene.

Not that it matters a whole lot with Sony putting a boot on both customers' and AA/Indie developers' necks alike with their shit decisions for Vita. It was a fun ride while it lasted, with a surprisingly fantastic library that rivals the NDS in great titles. After next year, Vita shuts down entirely and those devs that did support it in Japan will be forced to Switch (already in progress). I suppose those who don't want Nintendo's box are going to become PC port beggars.

It was fun while it lasted, though. Still plenty to play.

RTS isn't totally out of the question on systems with touchscreens, but it'd be much more suited to ones with a stylus, and even then, the genre really never escaped its homeland of PC. As far as the early RTS ports on PS1 goes, they were impressive for what they were, same for the PS1 Diablo port, but far from the way it's meant to be done. The only good thing about PS1 Warcraft 2 is the TASes.

That reads like a form letter and it looks like you got an auto-reply response. Not actually ideal.

>I am a customer of Atlus of several years.

This sounds extraordinarily awkward, even in text.

<I have been a customer of Atlus for several years.

works far better because it sounds like normal speech.

>I have bought numerous Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games, as well as numerous other titles published and localized by Atlus such as Dungeon Travelers 2, the Utawarerumono games, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, and Dragon's Crown.

<not starting with the specific titles you've enjoyed, just <popular franchise>

You need to personalize the email more to seem like an actual human rather than like you're writing a form letter. Massive corporations want to see actual engagement, not thousands of people copy/pasting and pressing the send key.

You can mention SMT/Persona but they should be secondary to specific, individual titles even if they are Persona titles, mention them by name/number you enjoy, like you did directly afterwards.

<overuse of the word numerous and repeated sentence structure it makes you sound robotic

Use varied language with words you would regularly use.

>I am very interested in seeing 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim come to the west on the Playstation Vita, and I wanted to register my interest as a customer with Atlus for it, in case there was any sort of hesitance or uncertainty concerning this game as a release.

This is littered with marketing speak not what you want to use in a customer email and ESLisms. You're allowed to use contractions, even in "professional correspondence", it makes your text flow better People tend to read how they would hear something spoken.

<I'm interested in seeing 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim <localized in the English/etc language> and wanted to voice my interest in the <product/game/etc> in case there was any hesitation or uncertainty in a market for the game.

>I have never preordered a game in my life but I am strongly considering doing so for this game.

So, even if this isn't a lie, don't tell them you've never pre-ordered a game. Tell them you only pre-order games you really want/believe in/whatever terminology you want to use.

When you use absolutes like that it comes off as fake even if it is true and makes it sound like even in the event they do announce a release you won't pre-order it. After all, what makes their game so special you'd break at least a decade of no pre-orders?

>I sincerely hope that it comes to the west with Atlus doing the localization.

Don't say you "sincerely hope" the game is localized by Atlus. If you have to point out your sincerity nobody believes it's real. Make them believe it's real through tone, not your massive vocabulary.

>If this is not the correct department, please feel free to pass this message unto whichever ones would be relevant. Thank you very much for your time if you have read this.

Motherfucker, what? If you've wound up at the wrong department they're doing you a favor by passing it along. Do you really think "please feel free" matches the context?

>pass this message unto whichever ones would be relevant

Archaic terms don't make you sound sophisticated, just say "to".

<If this is not the correct department, I would appreciate it if you could forward this message to the correct department.

>Thank you very much for your time if you have read this.

Why are you accusing them of not reading it?

If they have read it you just look like an asshole. If they weren't going to read it what point would any amount of emails have?

Just say

<Thank you for your time and consideration.

Are you the same guy who composes all the GG emails that make their way to this thread?

>Massive corporations want to see actual engagement

I've always assumed interacting with companies involved looking professional and formal. I've also been cynical of any emotional approach when it comes to business types so I did what i felt was best for it. If it was wrong, oh well. Thanks for the information regardless. Its very hard for me to be authentic when writing an email to a faceless corporation that I have never had any interaction with previously outside of buying their products.

>After all, what makes their game so special you'd break at least a decade of no pre-orders?

Its a Vanillaware game on a platform that's on its way out the door.

>Motherfucker, what? If you've wound up at the wrong department they're doing you a favor by passing it along. Do you really think "please feel free" matches the context?

I assume they're fine with receiving emails from customers, and that it wouldn't be a big deal at all, forwarding an email.

>Are you the same guy who composes all the GG emails that make their way to this thread?

Since when do GG emails make their way to this thread? Aside from OLZ's thing which I didn't have any part in aside from spreading some contact information for them, I haven't been involved with anything email related in a while.

42f27c  No.15484389

>>15484146

>I've always assumed interacting with companies involved looking professional and formal.

If you are another business conducting business activities yes, but there is a difference between formal/professional language and flat, awkward language.

That said, as a customer you aren't really expected to be formal and professional and it is sometimes better if you are not.

Obviously there is a difference between informal language and low effort garbage filled with typos, profanity, etc

>I've also been cynical of any emotional approach when it comes to business types so I did what i felt was best for it. If it was wrong, oh well. Its very hard for me to be authentic when writing an email to a faceless corporation that I have never had any interaction with previously outside of buying their products.

I understand where you're coming from. It's not so much that you need to be emotional but that you need to seem like an actual person writing an email for another person to read.

That includes trying to avoid the "market speaking" that I notice has become popular lately in various email campaigns. Sure it sounds more "professional" but corporations don't give a shit about how professional their customers sound.

They want to know you'll actually buy a product. You want to let them know you're a real person who will buy the actual product. You'll need to write like one rather than writing like you're trying to ping an algorithm for their inboxes.

>Its a Vanillaware game on a platform that's on its way out the door.

There are millions of people on the planet, through interacting with these millions of customers most firms have learned that certain terms and phrasing means very specific things, particularly more with negatives.

Saying "never" and similar means the average customer is less likely to change their behavior in that particular instance even if a particular customer, that being you in this case, would actually change their behavior under those specific circumstances.

>I assume they're fine with receiving emails from customers, and that it wouldn't be a big deal at all, forwarding an email.

It's more that the phrasing "please feel free" sounds a bit offhand, like you didn't do your due diligence or are being flippant. That is very much not what you want to sound like.

By using phrasing that acknowledges you may have been mistaken in destination it says you know they are potentially doing you a favor which makes them more likely to comply in the event you are wrong. In cases you are not it adds to a positive tone.

>Since when do GG emails make their way to this thread?

That was more of a poor assumption on my part.

My timescale is a bit fucked due to my lifestyle, however, over the course of the past three or so threads I have noticed at least one or more ill thought out email campaigns or a crosspost making their way here from the GG thread.

They frequently seem to entail somebody requesting that the people here resend a poorly written form letter.

You would think they'd be better at it by now since they've been at it for nearly four years but their newest emails always seems to be written by Sal from Cambodia.

You got nonpdrm set up, right? What's the error you're getting from those games?

It'll probably be due to:

>bad install

If a game is copied via FTP instead of USB, it tends to fail. Copy via USB or CMA psp save trick instead.

>Needs a compat pack

Download it with L on pkgj with the game in question highlighted. Only games with [3.61+] have them, and you'll need the pack only if your system version is inferior to the one specified by the game

>Update breaking

Some games are <=3.60 originally, but an update makes them require higher versions. If the latest compat pack isn't correct for the latest update, then install the highest possible 'legacy update' available in the pkgj menu. One example of this for me (I run 3.60) is Musync - installing the base version and its compat pack works, but updating through Livearea breaks the game - it seems the compat pack isn't actually for that latest update. (said comp pack can be built by users with the right purchase/gamecart, though)

People shouldn't even deserve an exploit at this point. If you missed the all the entry points of the last years i really don't know what to tell you. Actually thinking about it it's better this way, so we don't have faggots scalping for a vita with specific firmware.

As per the guide, you get pretty much everything at 3.68 or lower, except for a startup entrypoint which is exclusive to 3.65 and 3.60. 3.65 is highly recommended thanks to the compatibility pack stuff for later games, and that startup hacks are great.

>>15538417

It's straightforward man. So's the 3DS these days but with the worthwhile Vita hacks they were never an arcane process like older 3DS stuff such as A9LH on N3DS.

I tried my best to clean it out, but there were more underneath the screen. At that point, I knew I couldn't clean it out entirely since these little things spew out a pheromone when they're electrocuted. Even if I cleaned the nest out, I had no way of taking care of the pheromones.

Speaking of hardware guro, aside from my cord deciding to stop working, it also ended up at the bottom of a backpack that fell, and the connector shell got broken as a result. That happened to reveal one of the wires was no longer connected. Sadly at the time I was only able to try stripping and taping the wire against the contact point, but that wasn't enough to get it working. I could try soldering it now, but it's probably broken in some other way. Wires perish in nasty ways.

Also somewhat into chapter 5 of V3 where it's starting to get really crazy. Chapter 4 was enjoyable despite killing off the trashy bitch Miu. The blackened was not really who I wanted, but at the same time he wasn't really contributing much to the story like Saionji so it was for the best. Also thank god Monokuma's annoying brats are all gone now. The one thing I've been worried about from the get-go is cosplay girl being a blackened or killed, but so far so good and there's not a lot of game left. Managed to roll her hotel event after a few tries too, best fantasy.

>these little things spew out a pheromone when they're electrocuted

Yes, but not the 'scout ant walked here, you should also walk here!' sort of pheromone, unless ants are more stubborn than I thought. Dead bugs create a dead bug stink, not unlike vertebrate corpses' rot stench, which is a universal language telling all invertebrates 'stay away.' Something to do with a universal fatty acid shared from cockroaches to crabs, I read, you can look it up if you don't believe me.

If you clean it up and it still works, Vita-tan shouldn't get bugs in her everything again. In particular if you deliberately take those dead bugs, grind them to paste, and Q-tip some of the resulting extract on the openings they used to get in. I can't help but notice those don't look like ants at that resolution, though. They all look too short and fat, more like big mites. The shape is clearer on the orange ones than the black ones. I think you should be more concerned that they're nesting elsewhere in your house.

V3 spoilers throughout, if anyone actually cares. Chapter 5 was needlessly complicated, and it would've been enough to stop at the first major twist of making an unsolvable case for even the mastermind. My fear came true in chapter 6 where she's literally acting out worst girl Junko, and that the first case was faked to kill off cutest protagonist. That aside I cannot be mad at the way it ended. In terms of mechanics, I actually like the majority of the new gameplay features. Except for Psychic Taxi which looks synthwave and cool and all but plays much worse than the 2nd game equivalent. Lying was damaged by it being generally obvious when to use it but the idea of being able to do it was actually worth exploring, and less obvious than the use of truth flashbacks in the first two games.

All said and done it'll probably see a re-visit at some point like the other games, but it can wait. I've got other games to do now.

>>15556341

The solution is don't bother with the official memory cards and hack that Vita because the official ones are overpriced and unreliable. They're looked down on for very good reason. If you're concerned about cartridge games, just rip the things to SD since you can actually do it. 200GB or 256GB is definitely enough depending how much you install. With less games you can even go lower. Even 256GB is cheaper than a 64GB official one though.

Also can't remember, was bump limit 300 or 350? Testing that.

SD2Vita is the adapter you have to buy in order to use an actual microSD card, and it takes up the slot of the game cartridge slot. I ended up dumping the contents of my own shitload of cartridges (as well backing up the saves files individually) to make everything digital inside the adapter. As much as I preferred physicals during my "legal use" of the Vita (because of the precious storage space + not relying much on the store), it's far more practical to have your things in digital format for the portability than a whole bunch of cartridges on the go.

It's still possible to play online with a hacked system, although I dont blame people for being cautious about the probability of a ban. I personally dont believe Sony will bother to implement, on a handheld now officially discounted next year, a checkup system that verify the authenticity of the game licenses

My personal piece of advice is to use only a few plugins, in order to not trigger issues by modifying the console too much. Storagemr (for the SD2Vita), nonnpdrm (for game dumps and creating/using fake licenses), pngshot (for better screenshots) and that percentage battery plugin is more than enough. I've read too much complaints about overclocking plugins creating crashes and various problems for instance.

>>15559621

Forgot to add in the end that I dont see the point of overclocking a handheld anyway. Maybe a PSTV, but I'd see that as putting the hardware at risk too since there's no fan/airflow to regulate the heat.

If people want to play on better framerates on the some games having performance issues on Vita, I'd suggest them more to play the home console or PC versions instead.

423a67  No.15559774

>>15559636

In the case of vsh and oclockvita it's not actually overclocking, it's just forcing its built-in battery/performance scaling to max performance. That alone makes a world of difference to many games. I'm not game to risk LOLIcon though since that actually does go beyond the intended speed.

Also I'd rather devs got their act together and not make sloppily coded games too, but also strongly prefer playing on a handheld over a full game console so I'll take that as an option if it exists. Might be nice actually to set up remote play for Neptunia VII/4GO if it can be done on hacked PS4. It can on hacked PS3+Vita but nothing supports it so it's worthless.

>>15559621

>I've read too much complaints about overclocking plugins creating crashes and various problems for instance.

Certain games don't work with the vsh/oclockvita but LOLIcon apparently is fine. Thankfully they're uncommon and you can also prevent userland plugins for loading for those titles. Also documented that.

Final-he makes even easier to setup h-encore on 3.65-3.68 firmwares (alongside of trimming the filesize of the hack exploit to 17MB instead of 200MB) than what it used to be very early in July. Firmware 3.68 is also more of value to me.

3.60 means a lot more compatibility packs to worry about and you don't often have to futz about with system restoring that I'd view that mattering. In any case it's irrelevant to me since I did it with update365. That pre-dated compatibility packs by a while.

Anyone knows of a program that writes to an SD card and reads to contents back to make sure they're not corrupted? I've just low level formatted one to see if it'll fix the corruption issue.

I dont see much the point of a permanent hack for now especially when the handheld isnt actually dead yet ("dead" as in no longer getting a release either be in the West or Japan), so unless those newest releases dont interest you, it's kinda silly to lock yourself from higher and still hackable firmwares (h-encore is pretty much alike to the PSP CFW in terms of setup). That's not even taking account of older releases, such as Dragon's Crown and a few others, that recently got a patch/update working on +3.60/+3.65. No permanent hack also means I always have a fail-safe plan in case shit goes wrong and later upgrade to 3.69 a while after the hack is released

I also dont have to worry about compatibility packs after downloading from NoPayStation or dumping content from my own cartridges.

>>15560620

I meant more that they sold like shit in Japan, where it matters most for jap devs to be invested in a system. VC4 sold like 5k units on Switch versus 62k on PS4 for instance. In the West, it tends to be the contrary (despite being ports/multiplats like you've pointed out), like Ys8 and Disgaea actually selling much better than their nippon counterparts.

You lost me here, are you trying to say some older games got recent patches? If they did, all it takes is a compatibility pack and I'm good to go. Even for new releases, I'd have to wait a week or two max, so what? I'm in no hurry.

>No permanent hack also means I always have a fail-safe plan in case shit goes wrong

You're very misinformed, then. Enso is easy to uninstall. If in doubt, just reinstall current firmware and it's gone. Updating to a higher one works too.

The only upside to 3.68/67 is not having to worry about compatibility packs, which considering how few games are locked to higher firmwares doesn't seem like an issue at all. Now if you said 3.65 I would concede that there's a massive amount of games out there that require at least that and could be more of a problem, but then again, not really since you just have to do two clicks in NPS browser to get your shit, no need to hunt down the packs all across the www like, I dunno, PS3 updates/DLC back in the day.

They sold better in the west because people here are retarded and the niche audience is more desperate for content on their preferred platforms and tolerant of bullshit (and there's just more people here who didn't play a lot of those games in general due to such a low install base on their original platforms that are getting increasingly more interested in them now)

Full game consoles are annoying to me, not to mention totally overkill for many of the simpler games I enjoyed on Vita. Mobile, don't even go there. It's a cesspool.

I hate the Switch for this reason. No competition for its niche and its not a dedicated handheld but people pretend its like it is one and that people should be glad it exists and is god (Nintendo)'s gift to gaming

This doesn't even get into the other shit wrong with it such as its exorbitant cost on both the console, controllers and accessories and the games themselves

I want a real handheld, not this hybrid. I don't want a console either. I worry though that once the 3DS dies (its been hobbling at this point) that Nintendo consolidates everything under this Switch shit and abandons dedicated handhelds for good.

>can I just switch out multiple smaller SD cards

Like with the real memory cards, they are not hot-swappable and you have to power the system off each time. It will also want to rebuild the library each time and won't preserve the layout of game bubbles if you care about that. I don't really advise this option. Also if you go 3G Vita w/ PSVSD you are effectively locked to one SD card. Swapping them is even more annoying than an N3DS.

I don't like it per se. I just recognize it as the only viable option in a universe where Nintendo are suboptimal, Sony are retarded, Microsoft are even more retarded, and mobile is pure vomit. That's muddier. Maybe the ZRIFs could be considered a problem but they're also not quite the same as a valid license. The .pkg links, well, let's just say it would be extremely dangerous to prohibit linking of copyrighted material in that way. Somewhat relatedly in fact, the DMCA was abused once to do exactly that for linking to DeCSS because apparently circumvention tools trump the First Amendment.
