my old man is from Ireland and they had to lock the doors not out of fear of gypsies, but because all the houses in the residential areas were identical so guys would walk into the wrong house after a night of drinking enough to be remarked on. The layouts of these homes were the same too so they'd make it all the way to the bedroom sometimes and fall asleep. Not really related I thought it would be a fun anecdote
