374b41  No.15441382

Just finished the game and holy fuck it's easily one of the most overrated piece of garbage that I've ever played in my life.

Everything was PERFECT until the ending.

-The whole Ray being Missile 10 years into the future from the past felt extremely forced, arbitrary and convoluted. So I understand that in the original time line Lynne was killed in the Junkyard, Kamila and Missile were killed and Missile gained ghost powers. Then he somehow went back to 10 years ago and waited out those 10 years to strike a bargain with Sissle? That was unnecessarily complicated and dumb.

-Sissel's true identity was very disappointing. They explain who the main character is by introducing an almost new character, the cat and we only see it ONCE in the game at the beginning, and it's not enough for the player to relate it with the main plot. It feels like they wrote themselves into a corner and went back and added the him in the final scene, after the plot was all laid out. The player has no way of knowing the cat "belonged" to Yomiel. It was essentially an asspull

-Why did they make beauty's sixth sense seem so important without ever following up on it? All she does is use it to make a vague threat that you later find out she wouldn't follow up on anyways. They could have fleshed out the evil organization a bit more

-The characters were mostly great except for Lynne. She was your typical anime airhead/plot device character with a cardboard personality. How the hell did she become a detective in the first place? She showed no wits or deduction skills whatsoever. We had to do everything for her. Not to mentioned her naivety and incompetence got her killed 5 times

-Did they really IMPRISON AN INNOCENT GUY FOR 10 YEARS just because he held a little girl hostage? Yomiel wasn't even aware of the whole thing going on with the project anyway. What irks me most however is why Detective Jowd did fuck all to shorten the guy's sentence.

Plus OP put some effort into his post, and compared to him you are some just faggot, probably a redditor as well.

>>15441382

If you consider everything as being PERFECT, except for the ending, I don;t see how it could deserve a 6/10, maybe an 8, but you can't just deduct 4 points out of 10, just because the ending wasn't satisfactory. Sadly it's been too long since I finished it to comment too much, the cat thing had some foreshadowing, with Sisel commenting that he dislikes dogs, and I think there were other such lines, that would allude to him being a cat. Plus if they focused too much on the cat, then the plot twist, of seeing the real Sisel wouldn't have had so much of an impact.

>Did they really IMPRISON AN INNOCENT GUY FOR 10 YEARS just because he held a little girl hostage?

There plenty of people who had been sentenced to life in prison and some to even death, even though they were innocent, just that there wasn't enough proof, and not just in Japan, there was a famous case in the 0s were a guy's wife got killed, and he was sentenced to jail, then in the 70s with new technology they proved he was innocent and was released, then in the 80s a new breakthrough emerged, and he was found guilty again, then in the 90s they found something else, and again he was set free, and I think he still innocent, in the end it was the butler gardener who did it

Also wasn't he sent to prison, because of the death of that girl, that they blamed her death on him.

It might have been overcomplicated and dumb, but he was a dog after wall, and not the brightest, they explain it that tried again and again, but just didn't have the powers necessary to save his master, so like Hachiko, the Japanese dog who waited for nine years at the train station for his dead master to come back, he went back in time and waited ten years for Sisel to come back, plus you did go back in time 10 years or so to stop that meteorite(I think, it's been too long) so it's palusible to go back in time that much.

He was sent to prison because of his escape attempt (WHILE BEING INNOCENT) and because he held Lynne hostage. What's ironic is that without him, Lynne would have died and the Temsik plot would have happened again. The poor guy saved an entire country from foreign invaders and was even willing to get killed by the detective to change everyone's fate. Even with his memories intact, Jowd made no attempt to save the bloke. It made no sense at all and made me despise Jowd a lot.

I guess I will have to replay the game someday, considering I forgot all those plot points, I am not even sure who are people you are talking about, but I suspect it's the painter from the jail, and the detective in the white coat. Maybe some autist who has a better memory than I have, can come and defend the game, but I think you are being too harsh in giving it a 6/10 for a PERFECT game, that didn't have a satisfactory ending, and maybe some plot points(most stories have them, it depends how many there are, and how obvious they are). The twist was well-foreshadowed throughout the game, enough that I was half-considering the possibility without being spoiled. The game drops a heavy hint early on that since souls without memory can mistakenly assume a different identity, it's very possible that Sissel isn't actually who we later learn is Yomiel, and when we realize that the only other option in the opening cutscenes was the mysterious cat, suddenly it makes a lot of sense what was going on.

It was pretty obvious that Sissel wasn't human (see: >>15441514)

but a good story presents you with all the elements you need to understand, unravel and discover it's secrets before they are explained in the plot. Even if these elements are always present and remain "hidden", they are still there so that the viewer can establish a relation between them. We were only introduced to the cat in the beginning and then he re-appeared at the very end. Additionally, the cat scene was way too fast.

Uh can we please talk about this Ace Attorney game?? The plot wasn't straightforward AT ALL, and it played like a visual novel with simple puzzles. Phoenix Wright doesn't even ACT like a real lawyer! >It's pretty obvious

It is once you know what's going on, but when you don't you're liable to pin such things up to the then-undefined mechanics surrounding being dead. Which is the whole point of course; it sets you on the wrong track, but if at any point you step away from your earlier uninformed assumptions, you start to realize that another possibility never mentioned sort of makes more sense, which ties neatly into what you said about a good story giving you all the pieces you need to puzzle things out before things are explained in the plot.

The writers deliberately try to get you to dismiss the hints about Sissel's true nature as just death stuff or offhand comments, but if you don't dismiss them then those details will give you enough info to start piecing things together well ahead of the characters. That you are able to do this reflects the quality of the plotline.

The cat belonging to Yomiel is the only plausible way for Sissel to die at the beginning of the game and think that Yomiel's body is his.

Why are you so mad about that point in the first place? The fact that Sissel is not a human was foreshadowed quite a bit in the game, and the twist was that Sissel was a cat, not necessarily that he was Yomiel's cat.

she's sort of a middle ground between yomiel and the hitmen

<shows that the (((Blues))) are related to ghosts somehow

until that point no one knew you were a ghost besides other ghosts, the fact that the villains have a ghost detector provide an early hint that their goal might be ghost related

>>15441559

There's some easter eggs/secrets/whatever hidden throughout the game that you can miss, mainly achievable by going through the phone line.

Technically the security footage where Lynne shoots sissel is one of these, if I remember right. The others are less important and you aren't told to go see them by the game though.

Throughout the game, Sissel shows that he knows a lot of things about the real world. He knows how to operate a switch, he knows about the inner workings of a submarine, he knows the meaning of many complicated words and his deduction skills & ability to plan ahead demonstrate that he's smarter than most humans and other animals, namely Missile

However, Sissel is also unfamiliar with many objects, such as sweet potatoes, how guns function, etc..

How can someone be so smart but also so dumb at times?

83fd6f  No.15454699

He'd had ten years around Yomiel to learn things, compared to previously being a stray, but there's still probably things that didn't come up, or that he wouldn't care about (why would a cat care to know about roasted sweet potatoes?), or that Yomiel wouldn't want to bring up (like the gun stuff). Also the question of how much communication the two actually had, once Yomiel's soul regained his body and memories. Obviously he still tracked Sissel down and effectively adopted him as the only "friend" he had left. I could see the odd topic of a submarine being of interest to Sissel though, in that cats tend to hate water, so the idea of something that could safely stay dry and livable completely submerged might be fascinating.

A lot of it might also be observation too, as Sissel does show that he likes to see what goes on around him, and with people (once he actually grows to care about them), as well as just playing around and seeing what happens. But I suppose it's speculation.

>999

>actually good

The fact that it's all the fever dreams of a burning woman using superscience to manipulate what could have been rubs me the wrong way. It's a classic VN copout where they conceal some worldshaking revelation completely outside the context of the setting that no sane person could have reasonably concluded, and they never meaningfully foreshadow it despite many opportunities to do so. And no, mysterious fevers alone hardly constitute any reasonable implication that it's a reflection of her real body dying. It's the laziest version of a twist out there, because it's completely disparate from any of the events that've happened thus far. At least with Ghost Trick the whole death powers deal keeps ridiculous possibilities within the realm of possibility in-universe.

Sorry for ranting, I just absolutely hate it when VNs do that one particular copout.

Some cats do understand simple mechanisms. I've had several cats who would try to open doors themselves by standing on their back legs and trying to grasp the handle with their paws. They clearly understand how the action is linked to the result, they just can't physically DO it without magical meteor ghost powers. Also there are numerous accounts of cats flushing the toilet just for the entertainment value.

Understanding how a submarine works, I admit, is a bit of a stretch. But cats do actually have very high deductive reasoning skills, as they're evolved for hunting and outsmarting prey. It's not implausible that a sufficiently motivated cat could figure out the basics.

As for his vocabulary, The "talking" between spirits isn't literal talking. They're clearly using telepathy or some kind of direct soul-to-soul communication rather than any spoken language, otherwise you wouldn't have cats and dogs talking in the first place. If you interpret it that way, it's less ridiculous for Sissel to so quickly grasp what the humans are talking about, if they're just communicating the "idea" of what the thing is. Sissel then gets the gist of it, and thinks "oh yes, as a human I must be familiar with that".

This might be more of a stretch, but it's even possible that Sissel is thinking in a more "human" way than he normally would simply because that's how he's been tricked into thinking of himself; as he's amnesiac and picking up all these thought tidbits from various humans, he's thinking/acting the way that they do because he thinks he's one of them. Compare to the original timeline, in which Sissel-the-lamp didn't want to help Missile at all because it wasn't interesting/obviously beneficial to him, which is more normal cat behavior.

I find the twist stupid as fuck and the exposition for it feels forced. I know there's no other way to go about it since it's convoluted as fuck but still. I also dislike most of the cast.

> Hey have you heard about this super rare disease about people not being able to tell the difference between one face and another?

< What kind of conversation subject is this? May I remind you we're trying to escape a retarded death trap?

> Just making small talk *cough* foreshadowing *cough*

> Gasp! 1 has what disease?! How do you know about this?! Are you a genius?!

The protagonist is a weak, retarded kid whose neurons remain dead for 90% of the story until the player makes him seem less retarded by solving puzzles while everyone else fucks about.

2 and 4 belong to the worst kind of garbage anime.

8 a useless slut but she's really a supa hakka!

3 looks like he was designed by CyberConnect2 staff. And he's an insufferable cunt.

I'm going to assume that the puzzle you posted is which one to get a haircut from, and the choice is A since they do each other's hair as practice. A does a good job on B and B does a shit job on A.

The whole plot point is that some magic ass meteoryte gives living beings post-humous super powers. And different beings get totally different powers following totally different rules.

It's cape shit.

It has no universal rules, therefore it can not have good writing. It physically can not.

What it can have is fun gameplay, good music, good characters and good graphics.

Which it does.

Also it's fucking anime game, what fucking writing are you serious nigger?

Go read a book or something.

I actually always appreciate spoilers because something that's "ruined" by the ending being known was never worth spending time on in the first place. For example, I know how Tolkien's books end, but it hasn't stopped me from re-reading them a few times just because of how well written they are. Now, thanks to OP's post, I know to not send any shekels into the game called Ghost Trick since it has, from the way it's been described, no repayable value whatsoever.

It's one of those worlds where animals are about as smart as people, but simply can't talk which is pretty common in fiction. If he was really as dumb as a cat, he wouldn't be able to speak at all to begin with.

>It has no universal rules, therefore it can not have good writing.

Care to explain why? Only way I can rationalize what you're saying is by the idea that the game's main twists are not sufficiently foreshadowed. But the game does plenty to establish ahead of time what is and isn't possible in the game world. Missile becoming a second playable character establishes the bit about being able to get different ghost powers and also that animals are able to to get them as well. While the idea of a character having puppeteer powers is foreshadowed plenty of times as well.

Also if how the fuck can the game have good characters if it doesn't have good writing?

>>15486055

This isn't the first time I've heard this retarded argument. Have you faggots never heard of the mystery genre or something? It's literally named after the intrigue of not knowing something. Yeah no shit a pretty clear cut fantasy series with a fairly predictable ending and little in the way of mysterious elements doesn't have the same need to keep things in the dark.

>muh replayability/rereadability

Which is also a dumb argument as mystery stories have a lot of replay/reread value. A lot of enjoyment can be had in catching the hints/clues you may have missed the first time around or just simply enjoying seeing how the mystery unfolds itself.

I forgot how and if it was explained but how was Missile able to last and wait for that long?

I remember in the beginning that ghosts only have until morning to do what they want.
