Anyone tried this? it got announced at MemE3 before Todds rant about Degenerates and it seems like it got no word of mouth at all.

All i remember is that its a stand alone game thats a roguelike style game using the setting and mechanics of Arkanes System Shock clone. A Sci-fi randomly generated game with shock inspired gameplay and mimics seems like a really neat idea but i have heard nobody talking about it. Good or bad, which in this day and age is genuinely surprising.

Did anyone play it? I played the original game on /v/'s recommendation and really like it a lot but 'random generation' can end up being a complete shitshow that i'm wary of.

Its fucking trash

Worse than the main game and the main game wasn't good to begin with.

Care to extrapolate on this in any way?

I didn't like Prey for the gameplay. This DLC is all gameplay. The gameplay of Prey was weak.

It was okay, you got a choice of characters to play with different stats and abilities, some of the randomization was not that good, but overall, it's just okay, not too great and not too bad either.

See i liked the gameplay. I could hack a door, lift a huge crate away from a hatch at the side entrance or break a small window and turn into a mimic'ed cup and roll in depending on the build i tried. There was so many ways to get into a locked room puzzle i enjoyed the option to be creative. Too many videogame 'puzzles' now are designed as a single solution thing like an old 90's pc adventure game.

Imagine Prey but without any mechanical improvements and all the level design removed and replaced by randomly generated mess.

Instead of one puzzle, they made 3 different very easy to figure out puzzles instead.

It's still trash.

>saying that it's better than 90s games because of concepts that it just lifted from 90s games

I played Prey, it was pretty fun. Shame that they called it Prey and that it has Bethesda in the box. I garantee that if those 2 things didn't happened, it would be considered a pretty neat game by everyone here. Of course, I pirated it

I have yet to try Mooncrash, but from what I've read it's essentially another entirely different section of the game that doesn't carry over to the main game.

You start in a base, move to a procedurally generated level and loot the whole place while handling the enemies you find. Once you finish, you open a door and move to the next level.

You keep everything you find in a level as you go forward, so there's a natural progression with the perks, although I wonder how that works out seeing how the game was also about not going too crazy with neuromods.

However, if you die you lose everything and have to start from scratch.

If you play the basegame running around with a shotgun and shooting aliens in the face instead of hiding and using cover, I guess the mentality will probably carry over well, and maybe using psychic powers as well, but otherwise I think it might end up being quite frustrating losing progress like that.

Then again, the game was somewhat simple (but long) in it's "progress" so it probably works?

That's not what mooncrash is. Mooncrash is pretty much just a series of rooms with enemies in them while you scavenge for shit weapons to kill them all in order to advance to the next room (because there's a barrier up until you kill all the typhon). Maybe there are some places where you can avoid the shit without disabling the barrier, but since you usually don't have any of the useful tools for doing that (even the fucking glu gun is hard to come by) it can't be very often.

It's alright, don't bother with it if you didn't like the main game, because it's not any better and the story is mediocre.

>>15439035

The level design is consistent through every playthrough.

Isn't everything trash?

Thanks cool guy with cool opinion you're cool.

Is that what you wanted to hear?

eda5cb  No.15449552

I ended up picking it up since i liked the gameplay and the only negative was from people that dont like the gameplay and boy is this a goddamn hoot. I like rounding a corner, getting one shot by an electrical outlet thats faulty, restarting and now that corridor is fine but a safe one is full of fire from pipe leaks or mimics.

It makes me really wish there was a mod like this for system shock 2 or Deus Ex. Shame its mostly forgotten already because this is a real fun time.
