Its a shame Nvidia is such fucking jews and are doubling down on their pricing. Because ray tracing hardware I think is great and I think ray tracing in general will bring a dramatic leap forward in terms of graphical realism. But since Nvidia had to go full kike ray tracing has now become a meme to a lot of retards. If only AMD had beaten them to it.

>its barely better than raster stuff we have now
You're blind. we've clearly hit a wall with the old method of cubemap reflections and a non unified reflection, lighting, and shadow model. The little bit we did see is early stuff and it made a big difference. This is the only logical step forward now to get past diminishing returns.
>and it runs 10x+ time slower
True, which is why I think Nvidia also went full retard throwing all their marketing at it when its clearly still in infancy. They should've handled it like something they just tacked on with a warning of "its still early and performance may not be optimal but you can still try it out" kind of thing.

You honestly think its going to sell thousand dollar GPUs regardless? It could have the best damn ray tracing implementation on the planet and their entry level GPUs would STILL cost too much. There comes to a point where its just too much to justify

An entry level GPU should NEVER cost more than the cheapest game consoles. That is straight up bullshit that needs to end because the prices are obviously being inflated as fuck at that point. If a Nintendo Switch costs 300 bucks, then Nvidia has 0 excuses for why their entry level GPUs cost anything more than that when its in effect just a single fucking PCB with a fan on it and no case. Entry level GPU should cost no more than 150 bucks at most, midrange should cost no more than 300, and 500 should be the absolute max anyone should pay for only the most high-end shit.

Short answer: Sure.
Long answer: Not unless you invest literally tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars into research and development, and acquiring the proper equipment. It's called "economies of scale", and it's the reason why it will NEVER take you less time/money to make something from scratch that someone else is mass-producing.

Is this price ONLY for the aftermarket cards? I do see the EVGA name there after all. They'd lose money if they put the same price as nvidia, due to the fees they pay and their losses not being recouped.
Would there even be an improvement with the fans vs. what nvidia already did?
So many questions.
