What kind of a singleplayer experience will I get with Arma 3 on the low preset with a dual core 3.4 ghz CPU, intel hd 4400 integrated graphics and 6 GB of RAM? I can run Arma 1 and 2 with this primitive setup and get 30-60 FPS, and I've heard that Arma 3 is a lot better optimized than 2.

Pic related, Arma 1 running on my PC with integrated graphics. I have all graphical settings on normal with a high visibility, and it's playable.

Is this seriously supposed to be thread-worthy? Just wait until you get your GPU you impatient fuck.

this, replaced my dying fx6300 PC with a $220 Dell with an i5 3470, swapped in any usable components and while it's a minor upgrade it's definitely an improvement over my previous setup. If I had something older and needed something more modern, that would be the best upgrade path. Get a new PSU, new GPU, and you've got a very solid machine for like $450.

I'd say go for it if you can find one that wasn't mined to death during the crypto craze. You're better off going with something new to ensure you get something that wasn't crunching numbers at 90c for months nonstop. You can get a Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ for $250 on Newegg.

when i first built my pc, i already knew that i wanted to future proof it, i bought the best cpu at the time that was affordable and it still good. the only thing i knew that i needed to eventually replace was to add more ram and a gpu.

Really you don't need to replace your CPU at least for 12 or 15 years.

18dc30  No.15418375

>>15417447

I'd even go so far as to say a Core 2 Quad processor is good enough for a budget gaming rig. I got an old eMachines prebuilt, I stuck a Core 2 Quad in it, and the biggest limiting factor is the motherboard not supporting more than 4 gigs of memory. The system's gaming performance is actually bottlenecked by the GPU because I put an HD 7570 in it, thinking that would be on par with the Core 2 Quad. I probably could have put a GT 1030 in it instead and been fine.

>prebuilts have been the best priced options for a couple years now

Shit, nigger what flavor kool-aid did you have? Pre-builts have absolute SHIT value. They're absolute SHIT.

>outdated CPUs

>shittiest motherboard available

>cheap-ass non-durable PSU

>cheapest GPU OEM can get away with (always cheap reference versions with lower clocks and usually low VRAM models, never good aftermarket boards)

>slowest, shittiest, generic, no-name value RAM

>shitty, no-name SSD (high access time shitty TLC, of course)

>cheap crammed case with low airflow

Either that, or you get an ayylienware-tier overpriced meme gaymer build with tons of useless RGB lights and gimmicks.

>>15416432

no one gives a shit about muh bottlenecks. You lose like 10-20 FPS with a cheap CPU (unless it's from fucking 2011 or whatever) and a good GPU, but you won't ever get to 60 if you match a shit CPU with a shit GPU to avoid 'muh bottlenecks'.

>>15416696

avoid reference RX 480 due to AMD's retarded decision to outfit it with a 6-pin PCI-E connector, get aftermarket models if you can. Or even better, get RX 580. 4 GB model should work fine for current games. 8GB model if you plan on using ultra textures, antialiasing and shit you faggot. Not sure when games will become more bloated and demand more than 4.

Arma 3 will not run well no matter what PC you have. I have a 1080ti + i7-8700 3.7ghz and it still chugs during night time ops. Might as well try to play it at low anyway on integrated graphics.

May need to turn down the render scale a bit.

>"optimized"

It might work if you play one of those Dynamic Recon Ops maps where you only encounter a handful of enemies at once. If you try anything like a real largescale fight like the Battlefields scenario of the original Operation Flashpoint you're gonna count seconds per frame.

02a9d7  No.15421290

I have a 4770k OC'd to 4.2ghz and a 1070. 40fps is the absolute minimum that I hit playing how I play. I usually play large scale PvE with the ALIVE mod so there are always big firefights going on around me. Most of my fps comes down to view distance and how many AI are spawned in.

Arma is generally a CPU heavy game, however since I upgraded to the 1070 and an SSD, I've noticed a big improvement.
