Issac has had pretty steady top 10 support since the Brawl era back when he was actually still semi-relevant and people thought his franchise was alive and would produce more good games. I think if you look at the roster, every other major NEVER EVER has a problem that will push away some people.Geno and Banjo are third party, and Geno was in literally one game on the SNES as a supporting character, he has no legacy nor was he even that important in the past aside from being the most memorable supporting character in his game. Skull Kid and Bandanna Dee both have an iconicity/relevancy problem, they're both bog standard enemies with basically zero character that are liked either because people liked Majora's Mask or like Kirby and want more Kirby reps but Kirby is already drawn kind of thin on recurring and memorable characters with Deedeedee and Metaknight being added in Brawl.

Issac is first party, a main character in a best selling game that had a successful sequel, someone who most kids who had a GBA will remember because his game popped the non-pokemon JRPG cherries of many people who were born in the early-mid 90s.

I can't say I really support Issac anymore despite being a major supporter of his in the Brawl days, but his inclusion makes more sense to me than the other never evers aside from Ridley and K. Rool who are already in. I don't think that Issac is the first choice of most people but a lot of people like to gravitate towards already popular characters. With the aforementioned two already being in a lot of rosterfags were left without a main character to support so they got absorbed by the next biggest factions.

Dante and KOS-MOS are two rapidly growing fanbases I've seen kicking off despite never seeing them being active whatsoever in previous Japan times. I think that the extent of third party representation in 4 really opened a lot of people up to the possibility of more third party representation and a lot of IPs are to the point that rather than jealously guarding their IP are very eager to get into smash for the smash sales bump that has been empirically proven to exist since the Melee era.

Cosplaying IS suppose to be reinactment even though it modeling in a costume. Whether there is spoken words or not bad coslays have bad acting as much as bad costumes. Also there's an art behind the creation of costumes themselves from materials to techniques creating them. If a cosplayer makes her own costumes and goes into detail then I'm interested because she's an enthusiast. Otherwise if she says "I just copied the schematics online," or "I'm perfect wearing this," or "unless you pay me to talk to you-" then they're not enthusiasts.

On 3DS in the west there's River City: Tokyo Rumble and River City: Knights of Justice on 3DS. Both of these are kinda meh but are definitely worth a pirate. The greatest 3DS title is Rival Showdown which is still worth a pirate because someone fucked the English translation, but if you have the cash I'd buy a Japanese copy if possible if you wish to support them..

On Steam there's River City Super Sports Challenge: All Stars Special and Battle Royale Special, but once again these are worth pirating due to being just alright overall.

Overall the best one out of all of these is Rival Showdown, at least in my opinion.

River City Tokyo Rumble, Rival Showdown, and Knights of Justice are the 3 and they're all pretty good. They have a slightly different system for building up and customizing your character, but it's better than hording money and gorging on food until your stats are randomly buffed enough.

The games tend to rely a little too much on grinding, in my opinion, and constantly fighting can get a little tedious when the game actively rewards you for hyperfocusing into one maneuver (like pumping up your punch stat in every way and just spamming punches to win every fight). This is partly a problem because 1) bosses and special enemies are damage sponges, and 2) nearly every attach results in enemies getting knocked down and laying on the ground for a moment, slowing the pace of the fight artificially.

In the beginning you can just pick them up and throw them/beat up other people with them, but as you get more skills you can use shit like Fatal Steps or Sonic Swing if you can align yourself just right. I do agree though, the bosses and special enemies aren't too unique when their gimmicks require them to not constantly get knocked down.

While I like Skull Kid, he's still just a skull kid wearing Majora's Mask. He's insignificant in the grander scheme of storytelling and served as a one-time antagonist for Majora's Mask (and he wasn't even the protagonist; he was possessed by Majora once he dawned the mask).

Tingle would make a lot more sense in a smash fighting game since he's a well-defined character who has defined movesets, his own games, and is light-hearted enough to appeal to the broader audience.

The thing about Dixie as an Echo Fighter is that it doesn't make much sense. They designed Diddy to be acrobatic, doing flips and leaps everywhere because that's what he does in the games, but it's not what Dixie does. Diddy has his jetpack and peanut guns from DK64 but Dixie definitely doesn't have a jetpack, though I think DKC Returns gave her a bubblegum gun as an equivalent. Dixie does everything with her hair: grabs, attacks, flies. She doesn't even have a tail which means she'd require a completely different jab combo. Dixie as a Diddy Echo is impractical if not impossible and also lame.

My idea to incorporate weapons with him was to have a menu like Shulk's new Style selector wheel of a few different weapons that break over time.
