Spider-Man (2000) and Enter Electro togther had most of Spidey's Rogues gallery which let to cool moments and bosses, Venom especially was very entertaining. There was also the web fists web dome and fire infused webbing for melting Symbiotes it was bad ass. Eneter Electro had electricity infused webbing. (2000) also had an awesomely hectic final level with Monster-Ock
Spider-Man The Movie (2002) was a true sequel to the 2000 game mechanically it improved and polished all of Spidey's gameplay, and you could unlock Harry Osborn as the Green goblin. Green Goblin mode made the game play completely differently, it had it's own story with quite a bit of unique voice acting, and was over all pretty bad ass.
Spider-Man 2 has the web swinging every other game after it has tried to match.
Ultimate Spider-Man let you play half the campaign as Venom and it was fun to wreak havoc with him.
Web of Shadows had a fun combat system which made uses of the fact you could switch between the Red suit and the Black suit on the fly.

I think they really wanted to get swinging right again, perhaps better than Spider-man 2… the issue is that they were so worried about making it “accessible” that there’s no challenge to it or anything that makes it stand out. If you’re falling to fast, don’t worry, the game will slow you down a bit so you don’t feel overwhelmed. If you don’t swing before you hit the ground the game will catch you. There should be a slight challenge to the swing to master it and make it fun. Something to punish you if you fuck up, but instead of being completely in control and having to deal with your fuck ups the game just carry’s you along for the ride. It also looks like it’s taking one of the worst cues from the Amazing Spidey games and having you automatically detach from a web after you’ve swung so far.

Ironically, the shifting jpegs are the results of trying to pull out true reflections while the other is just a nifty trick developpers used to do around that time to make fake reflections. I remember someone talking about it back when Mafia 3 came out and it was compared to its predecessors.
