Yes. It's dead. The first Katamari was the only good one. The rest felt like lazy clones but without the hit song, "Katamari on the Rocks". In the first game's final level where you make the moon, that song really tied the game together like a nice rug.

Every game after the first game was the first game with some sprinkles on it, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I still maintain that Touch My Katamari is the definitive Katamari game and it's a damn shame nobody gives it the time of day

No is actually 100% agree with you that Touch my Katamari is by far the best game in the series.

Not only is rolling the absolute best but stretching and shrinking it on the fly works like a fucking dream. And the fact that the whole game is about pleasing fans of katamari damacy since "it's gotten a bit flabby" was amazing.

Not a bad choice imo. At least Touch My Katamari does something different as far as the gameplay is concerned. The only downer is that The Great Journey shouldn't have been DLC.

Katamari Damacy - Laid out the foundation for the series' gameplay.

We Love Katamari - No major changes to gameplay.

Me & My Katamari - No major changes to gameplay.

Beautiful Katamari - No major changes to gameplay.

Katamari Forever - Minor change to gameplay. You can hop and do short jumps now.

Touch My Katamari - The new Squash and Stretch gameplay is a noticeable change.

Like I said, most Katamari games are just lazy clones of the original. Different levels, but the same exact gameplay. No wonder the series stagnated so quickly. By the time they dared to try something new with Touch My Katamari, it'd already become too formulaic "with sprinkles" thrown on top.
