Final Fantasy XIII is a game that achieved critical and commercial success in Japan. Only westerners apparently hated it, due to it not being open world enough like emergent wrpg gameplay, such as Skyrim or Fallout 3. It was a linear story with great worldbuilding mythos and a lot of heartwarming moments between its main characters. The combat gameplay feels very polished and is a sight to behold in real time. Even the music was highly memorable and enjoyable (the Japanese version's OST, preferrably). For all its worth, FF13 is a severely underrated game where the only demographic it "disappointed" were westerners. Pure coincidence, I'm sure.

FF13 is shit for a lot of reason, one of them is it felt and pretty much was a 10+ hour tutorial until slightly before the open world part. Also the nigger was the best character in the game

It was gonna be even worse Originally since it was just gonna be Mog and Serah so they added Noel. Why is there only 2 characters in the story and why isnt Snow on the team? This could have been the perfect chance to develop Snow's character since he was fighting for Serah and wouldnt shut up about her for the whole game but instead they have to add Noel (a fucking nobody OC) because they dont have enough characters even though they have a whole party's worth

The story is all fucked up, but the ending is pretty fun. The game is good overall, and Lightningfags get to play dress up with a decent amount of options.

There is no way you're not tossing out bait and fishing for the Valkyrie Profile fans to come and start complaining about how Valkyrie Profile 3 was scrapped and it's engine, assets, and overall gameplay and story/theme were used for Lighting Returns

I would imagine they had all these big plans in store for 13 that didn't quite go through but they already had everything prepared so they just shoved everyone who could stomach working with Toriyama in the same building and just locked the door, only checking up on them when they needed something to fill in a dead release period.
