I haven't even played their last expansion tbh, only the base game. Can you start off in the expansion content or is it a legit expansion that takes place after the base game? If thats the case, i recall character levels/area difficulty and difficulty modes scaling pretty linearly, so how'd they insert the expansion areas? Did they just have em as optional zones or rescale everything??

The expansion works like it did for Diablo 2, it's a final chapter added at the end, they also released a mini dlc which is just a survival match were you last as many waves as possible for loot i'd only recommend that if you really love the game.

Ashes of Malmouth takes place right after the end of act 4, not mandatory to finish the game itself and progress to the next difficulty. FG will work the same way except it doesnt follow the story as directly as the rest of the game so you'll be able to start the new xpac right after killing A1's warden krieg I think they said.
Far more easily accessible than malmouth and it seems to have a whole bunch of neat additions to the game like re-rolling sets and thank fuck for that because I was getting sick of grinding the crucible for items I was missing.

Paladin-themed at least, some of the combinations are basically just called "paladin" or a variation of it. Not the most original idea but GD masteries like to go with ideas that worked in the past and usually it still manages to look really cool. The ability in the gif is literally WoW's paladin ability avenger's wrath but who fuckin cares it'll be cool anyway.

In the base game when you have to pick an alliance between the paladin zealots and necromancers you can't join forces with the zealots if you pick the necromancer class. If the new class is essentially a paladin like >>15385970 said and you pick it with necromancer, would that cancel it out or would you get some altered dialogue?
I can't even play the damn game anymore because it keeps crashing and no sites tell me what to do to fix it. And aside from the necromancer class, the first expansion was pretty underwhelming. Still don't regret buying it though

The only faction that gives a shit what you are are the cocksuckers who worship a false god (empyrion's chosen). The necromancers are fucking serious bros. They actually work to combating both the aetherials and cthonians, only caring that you have the same passion for it as well. Play an inquisitor? They don't care as long as you are killing the enemy with them.
And the necromancer's missing leader was damn near prophetic, discovering some insidious shit coming and embarking to figure out what it was and try to stop it himself, still out there somewhere. The whole thing kind of demonstrates the ethos of Grim Dawn, morality is rather ambiguous when the fucking world is ending and the gods are taking their petty wars straight to Cairn. The traditional "good guy" faction are fucking moronic assholes and the edgelord "evil" faction are the real good guys, even the fucking spirits they raise tell you they don't have a problem with it.

To be fair, that kingdom was on a major decline, likely already becoming infested with cthonian and aetherial influence. There was such a massive war at one point that was started just to summon a fuck-huge tentacle rape demon. Some decent people found out, and build a giant elaborate grave site as a mad arcane seal to trap it. The left over shit from the old kingdom was a result of some vile magic they started practicing.

I don't think it's going to be in the Forgotten Gods expansion. They have said they would like to move on to working on some other game ideas, even after they finished Ashes, but the sales were so good that it showed a demand for more and they still had some ideas. If there is some more lore for him there it's likely not going to be a lot, it seems much more focused on some stuff related to the witch gods. If the sales are solid again it might make them consider doing more content or doing a Grim Dawn 2 aetherial boogaloo after their next project.

I did a similar thing but stopped playing it when it was still in early access at act 2 or so. Came back to it a few months before they dropped Ashes and now have 800 hours in the game. The patches and changes they made didn't really change anything radically, except killing off the 4500 DA crucible meta (it was like 20% chance to even be hit by a nemesis). There's just more stuff now for you to see and play around with.

It was a crucible meme for soloing wave 170 with literally any class combo. Started when some chinese guy posted his build to the forums with like 6000 DA and a 0% chance to be hit. He turned it into a gookclick time sink for waves 150-170 taking like 40 minutes or some shit. Some more industrious people took note of the broken DA scaling and built around 4500 DA targets but actually doing damage, it was a risk free crucible 150-170 run in about 10-15 minutes depending on the build.
They put a cap on DA so it hard caps at a 60% chance to be hit, which is around 3600 DA for the crucible 3200-3400 DA for ultimate difficulty campaign, this is all assuming level 100. The builds I posted above fit the DA caps but do assloads of damage and are decently fun to play, especially the lightning trickster. Casters and ranged are a whole different game and not really my preferred play style, with having all of the constant repositioning and tactical maneuvering of the character to not get deleted by something.
Have a high maintenance pet build, clears all campaign content but requires all of your skill bar for casted abilities. Really high damage output that peaks over 500k dps. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4ZDWE4QV

There are reasons for both, if you don't like it then you either didn't give it a good go or it isn't a game for you. Personally, I can't stand PoE even though they both have a 'grim' aesthetic ala Diablo.

Only diablo clone I couldn't stand was d3, I lasted about an hour before giving up on that ugly thing and there's no way you could accept that game as a true d2 successor.

Reasons for both as in reasons for why you might like one game over the other. The gripes I have with PoE are reasons I like GD more, as in reasons I would offer as positives for GD. And I think GD is more compatible with trying to put together builds that might be suboptimal but can still clear the campaign through all difficulties with a bit of effort. If it bores you then oh well, it doesn't bore me.

I think it is, great actually, its the best Diablo clone i have ever played. it isn't just looting and killing that is fun though the world is a genuinely fucked up place with lots of details and story, its even got quests with actual consequences. I dont even know why that surprised me so much but so many of these diablo clones have really shit quests that are just "kill 10 X". Grim dawn has actual choices and stuff.

you should have tried the 360 version of D3. Some how it ended up being the superior version as it's actually mostly offline and has local co-op. The only problem is that RoS ran like ass on it, and blizzard abandoned it for the next gen ports that did have online bullshit before they released the necro and d2 stuff.
