I only play bc2 vietnam, I never touched any other part of it. And to this day it's still a game I start up constantly. Even though there's only 5 maps in the expansion and 15 weapons, the gameplay is just so damn good it always feels fresh. But considering nu-dice they probably won't even include the fucking expansion or worse they'll shit it up by changing aspects.
I don't even need a remaster, the game runs perfectly and looks good, the aesthetic for vietnam is great and nothing feels janky or awkward. This just seems strange like they're holding a beloved game hostage. If they wanted me to give a shit they could make another battlefield vietnam but they'd probably fill it with pro-communist cancer, make every GI a black tranny and remove all the cool shit in the original bf vietnam like traps. Isn't that a symptom of game designers being praised for the work of a group. They might have some part in it but they are mostly idea men who have to have their ideas reign in by programmers and writers who do most of the heavy lifting.
Kind of sad that Battlefield is following in the same direction as Call of Duty which is in an identity crisis spiral. Call of Duty can get away with unrealistic elements because they have been following that trend for years. Inject that into Battlefield where people expect some sense of realism because they got tired of COD for its lack of it and you just killed half your playerbase interest for that decision. That doesn't include the usual "your sexist" and "don't buy the game" response after that, and the late-to-the-fade inclusion of "battle royale".
I wouldn't mind playing the female character because I'm that guy who usually picks the female option when it's available. It's not like trying to force everybody to play female characters like what they're doing for the campaign. They could have gotten away with saying an exaggeration of history instead of going for what they did. They might have gotten some decent sales but they set themselves up for 3 strikes and interest was out. Lackluster e3 showing with "battle royale", a confusing trailer that made people ask some legitimate questions and the fallout of "don't by our game" that followed after. Now we've got a hostage situation and they couldn't look more desperate, even if they tried. It's going to be interesting to see how this will fail upon release. Not like they can get away with the porn push for claw girl.

Bad Company 2 guns sounded a lot stronger despite not sounding "realistic". BF3 guns may sound crisp but they don't sound strong. During battle they all sound the same while in bad Company you could have 32 people all firing in the same city block and you could still tell the difference between all the gunfire. If someone had an M16 for example you knew, because it had a very characteristic sound. That went for almost all the guns in the game.

Suppression was abbsolute cancer and bullets were almost useless beyond 100 meters. In Bad Company 2 you can put an acog on any gun and snipe people across the map with a few taps. In Battlefield 3 however the only rifle that didn't require a billion hits to kill someone was the G3 and the AN-94. Every other carbine and assault rifle was a peashooter at med-long ranges.

Snipers can also damage it and just 2 recons can slowly eat away the chopper's health pool by themselves. Also they were so slow and flew so low that hitting them with tanks was easy and competent players could fuck them up with RPGs. And there is always this one madman who always managed to mark them with the dartgun from across the map or lead a launcher/ATGM shot straight into them.
In Battlefield 3 choppers could not die, ever. A fully upgraded chopper can just fly as high as possible and the gunner can dominate the entire map by himself. Any jet coming towards their direction will just be blown up by the gunner's TV Missile and the pilot's rocket spam. There is no way to bring down a competent chopper team in BF3.

I got in the mood to fuck around one day in a rush match on Laguna Presa as the attacker. Started rolling Assault with extra explosives and like 4 smoke grenades spamming that shit for shits and giggles. Then I realized smoke nades refill twice as fast as normal ones from ammo boxes.
It was absolute fucking chaos and I loved it, nobody could see shit half the match because I kept making walls of smoke as my team pushed and every MCOM was like a close-quarter shootout at a Snoop Dogg autograph booth. Surprisingly enough it actually helped the team a lot. So I started actually trying to kill people with smoke grenades. Seeing them blow up in a puff of smoke made my fucking day.
Long story short, I started flinging smoke nades at a Blackhawk that was flying low to block the sight of their miniguns. Eventually I landed a puff of smoke right on the cockpit and an "Enemy killed" showed on the HUD as the helicopter gently fell to the ground.
Fucking love this goddamn game.

This is the key thing here, Bad Company 2 may be 8 years old but theres nothing wrong with it, it performs, looks and plays just fine, the industry has been pushing its luck with these shitty remasters for a few years now but its getting overly audacious lately, sure you could re-release stuff on newer console tech, which provides people who never played the original a nice opertunity to hop on the train later, but a the PC version needs no updating, and releasing another version is just going to muddy the waters and split the playerbase, or kill it for one game forever if the pull the plug on the servers because "fuck you goy, we need more shekels" just look at DaS Remastered.

I dunno. The game was just comfy. Both games didnt take themselves too seriously, which in the era of stuff like MW and GoW was pretty refreshing. The game's multiplayer was also probably the best we would see for quite some time because of map design.
The huge maps of BF3 were nice, but also a major slog to try and play through. The emphasis on vehicles in BF3 also felt like if you didnt play an engi, you were fucked outta luck for doing anything interersting or impactful.

The Irony is if they did like you said I probably would have bought Battlefield Vagina. It really does look like what Battlefield Heroes should have been, with high tier gramfiks. The reveal trailer really got me excited about the idea of having this weird alt history WW2 game with cyborgs and crazy wormholes and stuff. It could have been tight as fuck. Like imagine a game where Nazis invade Rome, or Samurai invade britain during WW1. It was a fun free to play game that could run on my shitty laptop I had at the time, and the aesthetic was great for the time. Being able to dress up your cartoon Nazi in fun hats was neat too. You could sit on the wings of the aircraft as your team mates flew around too. It was just goofy cartoon fun.
