Pokemon Let's Go will sell probably just slightly worse than all the rest of them. Autists keep saying THE REAL POKEMON is coming in 2019, but just because GF says its for hardcore autists doesn't make it true. The games get easier and easier, absolutely nothing I've seen has stopped this trend.
Gen 8 will than 7 but better than Let's Go, but Gen 9 will be even worse than that.

I agree, most pokemon fans love to complain about the newer designs but they always fail to recognize what makes the original designs so memorable, which is, in my opinion, how they almost always find the perfect balance between semi-accurate biological anatomy and cartoonization.

I really hope Let's Go ""only"" sells like 2-3 million. Given that the average pokemon mainline RPG pulls off 15-18 million it would be a massive embarrassment and MIGHT help gamefreak get their heads out of their ass.

The monsters look kinda lame though. Everything else is alright, but when you make a monster collecting game you have to spend a lot of time ironing out designs, something that they haven't done much of it looks like.

Absolutely. Besides that the pokemon from Gen 1 (there's others in newer generations but even the switch to gen2 was huge design-wise) just look 'tougher' like they can actually fuck you up. But you had some in the first generation too that looked a bit too goofy compared to the rest. Dragonite always stood out like a sore thumb for me.
Though I've warmed up to some of the later generations design-wise, the pokemon from those gens that I do like still stick to that idea.
I also absolutely hate this "plushified" round style they're doing now. It looks horrible.
