Back when asymmetrical games were becoming a meme before battle royale usurped it as the next dev fad a big thing was 'serial killer sims' like Dead by Daylight or Friday the 13th.
Lots of others died but one just went dark for a while called 'Last Year'. It was meant to be more like Obscure i.e a sci-fi rather than supernatural love letter to late 90's horror movies. You play a serial killer or monster against a gang of high school students playing the role of Jock, Nerd, Goth and so on.
It was meant to be a little more tongue in cheek and experimental rather than 1v4 'do the one thing on repeat' like all the others. It had a kickstarter but they actually shut it down stating a company had shown interest in publishing and that was that. Last i saw they confirmed it was set around a prom near halloween at a midwestern high school in 1999, the 'last year' of the 20th century.
Does anyone know what happened to it? i really loved Obscures style of 90's horror movie inspiration and while games like Until Dawn tried it they went far too serious with it.
