I got a decent deal on a Titan V from someone who no longer wanted it, and after setting it up, am considering a Waterblock to enhance it's lifespan since it hs no fans or anything of the sort to keep the temp down.

Does anyone here use one and, if so, what's your opinion? I'm skeptical since, first of all, the only ones selling them are chinks and to have the most epensive part of my rig covered in waeer surrounded by cheap chink plastic sounds like a recipe for fucking disaster.

Does anyone here use one and, if so, any opinion on whether you think if will help with longevity of your GPU? Since the fucking think doesn't come with a fan, do you thnk it's a necessary evil?

>>15338609

Like you said, I wouldn't trust the chinks for a moment. See how it does without it first. If you didn't burn your house down you might be fine without.

Also. what in the fuck is happening to this thread?

Why doesn't it have fans?

So it breaks and you buy a new one or pay Nvidia to repair it.

c7a257  No.15339376

Call it jewing if you want, but as a fellow gamer, it seems like a good idea. You are paying top of the line tech to be the Best Gamer, who cares if it's short lived? You have an epic and strong GPU for amazing frags and kills while it lasts…

This anon knows what he's talking about.

When you're living on the cutting edge you don't care about lifespan. When your PC breaks down it's probably time to buy an upgrade anyway.

c0e891  No.15339404

>>15339357

Because it's water cooling, I think. You have fans elsewhere, not inside the tower, if you have them at all.

They're probably anticipating the aftermarket where 3rd parties buy a card, slap on a bunch of fans/heat sinks and ship it with drivers that overclock it and sell it to turn a quick buck.

eb02c3  No.15339441

>>15339404

You still needs fans on your radiators. Can't passively (without fans) cool a PC very well unless the ambient temp is low and you have a ton of radiators.

>>15338609

I can't speak to longevity. You would need many many years and a large sample size to determine that. Keeping any component cooler should, in theory, increase longevity though.

I have a watercooled 1080 Ti. Longevity aside, the boost clock on water is much higher than normal because the temps are of course much lower. GPU boost 3.0 sees those low temps, detects the thermal headroom for higher clocks and, in my case, boosts the GPU above 1900MHz. I add just a little more to that and get an even 2000MHz. The primary benefit of water cooling is not longevity but performance.

How edgy you are , Schlomo. Implying you wouldn't buy an expensive card if you found a motherfucker who was being transferred to Malaysia for 3 years for his ob and wasn't going to take his PC, wanted to buy a laptop, so was selling like a a year old, $3k_ card for $650. Why don't you stick your tongue up in my fucking ass?

As for how to keep entire system cool- my build uses a Thermalite "The Tower" which is about the biggest fucking non-custom case you can get, and I have a pacific RL 560 cooler in side the "case" (it's more lik ea fucking…not sure how to describe it) that keeps it cool along with a shitload of fans all over it.

I completely jewed the dude who was moving, mades sure card was working 100%, and I don't want to lose it to overheating but then maybe even greater risk of shitty chink plastic breaking and ruining it.

Of course, everyone here has to be a fucking edgelord cunt and can't just shut their whore mouths if they don't have constructive advice/criticism about the object in question.

7410c6  No.15342449

>>15339441

I agree with you anon– I use watercooling for my GPU and to keep the temp down in the entire fucking thing in general. I use my PC for work on some design and editing elements. I really barely use the thing for "gaming" (unless it's a game specifically related to project I've been working on, to see what they are doing with the storyline).

I also like the way you can use this particular case and watercooling elements to design a cool, almost feng shui aspect to the thing that would be ugly as sin in just about any other case.

My hesitations here around a waterblock is that it actually involves unscrewing the outside shied of the card and leaving it totally open for exposure if the chink plastic should crack.

Is there any downside to keeping your computer inside a fishtank filled with mineral oil?

Can anyone tell me exactly why the recently-revealed Nvidia GPU is a scam? I've been looking for a good thing to buy my nephew but obviously I don't want to waste the money, but I hear lots of good things about it almost everywhere other than here.

its a gtx 1080 or a ti rebranded as a new card.

they just slap a bunch of extra chips and cal it new.

they have over 1 million gtx 1080's sitting in a warehouse and can't sell them because they don't want to lower the price and fuck themselves in the ass because they panderd to bitcoin miners.

amd is also a peice of shit in that regard.

>Is there any downside to keeping your computer inside a fishtank filled with mineral oil?

Eish, well will admit it does look like that from the outside, but the actual important parts of the build are kept up at the top so even if the thing did break, wouldn't ruin anything. Even the fucking SSD are covered so that they'd never be destroyed if anything over did somehow crack.

>>15342511

>Can anyone tell me exactly why the recently-revealed Nvidia GPU is a scam?

Read the announcements, anon. Nothing to do with…more 4k support or better FPS, just a list of shit and telling you it has all these different internal "engines" that will help with…."ray tracing," which no one really gives a fuck about and no one was eagerly awaiting how "ray tracing" would progress.

IMO, see how the prices on the other families go down and save money and get one of those. If you saved a LOT of money waiting this fucking thing, do an SLI.

At least wait until they get int circulation and see what peep have to say. The idea that they are changing measurement to "gigagrays" makes me completely suspicious they just released a hunk of shit.

If you don't want to cook fries you could always throw a bible in it and have thousands of people buy mineral oil off you thinking its a sign.

35bd52  No.15342670

>>15342494

Cleaning and the mineral oil degrades the plastic over the long term so the resale value you get and the overall lifespan of the parts are lowered than if you didn't have a mineral oil rig. But if you want it for the novelty and don't care about the somewhat major downsides, go right ahead.
