I've seen plenty of people say Obari was a good human artist because "muh tits" which makes them overlook everything else that's bad about the pic, even though the tits are usually terribly drawn in Obari's case. See this anon for example >>15339069. It doesn't matter if the art is good or if the character designs are good as long as he gets some tits, no matter the quality. Same with his mecha designs, people go "wow cool robot doing cool pose" while completely ignoring the fact when Obari draws a mecha in a pose he usually ends up "breaking" the mecha so that it can do poses that it wouldn't be able to if it were real.

I actually prefer the series to Fire Emblem. I like it because it has a strong focus on tactics as well as RPG elements. Most Japanese TRPGs are more about the RPG side and tactics is usually an afterthought. Langrisser however is usually very strong on both fronts.

I've actually done a statistical analysis of Comiket releases and what the percentage of which was NTR. NTR as of the last 5 years is not increasing in overall percentage. It grew rapidly about 10 years ago but coastlined after that. While it is true that there is more cuckshit being made at comiket, it is overshadowed by more smut of all types of varieties being produced even more. Any perceived increase in NTR is most likely because of the only doujins getting translated, which is a fraction of the overall Japanese releases.

Art style in video games do have an impact, and definitvely contribute in its appeal. Nobody would play a Dragon Quest game without Toriyama's style. The Langrisser/Growlanser games are about the same.
YU-NO remake was absolute garbage due of the new artstyle (which was also done by Nagi Ryou, that's right, the guy in charge of the Langrisser remake right now), despite it's originally a pretty good point-and-click game with a lot of replay ability.
Akiba's Beat artstyle was definitively a downgrade over Watanabe Akio's art used for Akiba's Trip 2. The art in Atelier Mysterious trilogy (Sophie, Firis, Lydie) was also worse than Hidari's art present on Atelier Dusk (Ayesha, Logy&Eschy, Shallie). Of course, those games had various other issues: Akiba's Beat was just a shitty Tales Of spinoff clone instead an actual strip fighting game. The last three Atelier titles were garbage because of Gust's DLC schemes that locked recipes originally present from older titles, and a poor multi-project management.
That doesnt necessarily mean a game is good by its good visuals alone obviously, but an appealing art style and visuals sure do have an impact, so you cant really neglect that part.

I disagree. Der Langrisser fucked up the visuals to the point where the portraits don't even look like Urushihara's style anymore, but it's still one of the most popular and well received games in the series. Most people prefer to Langrisser II which had much better visuals, but less content. Also, there are a ton of Dragon Quest clones with generic art styles that are fairly popular. Hell, the sprites in the Dragon Quest series itself didn't even start to resemble Toriyama's drawings until around six games in.

Let me join in the disagreement, see dragon quest monster diversity and design has been mostly shit for years, i really don't like Toriyama style because it never evolved and he also lost all his creativity, you are bound to see the same monsters since DQ1 plus a handful of new designs, and as for characters i mean FFS wouldn't you be tired of getting the same Dragon Ball characters for decades, now i wouldn't complain about this back when the characters were sprites, but after having played DQ 7 then 8 which was pretty good tbh, i got tired pretty quickly of Toriyama, by the time 9 came out i was already bored at the start of the game, they need a new art direction, so that they can experiment with new monsters, new armors designs and clothes, etc.
