The Legacy of Kain series(minus Blood Omen 2) all have time travel in them, Soul Reaver 2, being the most complex with it's time traveling plot.

There's also the Prince of Persia trilogy(Sands of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones) use time related abilities in the gameplay, and WW has an interesting plot involving time travel as well.

It's difficult to make a game about a spindly Englishman running through corridors who refuses to carry a weapon because "muh pacifism" but instead relies on using some sort of plot convenience to massacre everyone anyways, so no. Maybe Doctor Who would work as a Lego game or something.

Honestly, the Doctor has the same sort of nonsensical fair-weather pacifism that Mega Man X does.

>"Violence isn't the solution!"

>"Okay, I guess I'll blow everything up, but only because I have no choice! T-This isn't what I'm about, I swear!"

X was built to keep the peace, not be a pacifist.

Pacifism shies away from violence, peacekeeping uses violence when necessary.

Radiant Historia. Emulate it for DS, don't even touch the current year remake. It takes Chrono trigger's concepts and expands on them while fixing concepts from Chrono Cross. Choice and consequence elements are very strong within the narrative but the gameplay itself is bog standard JRPG stuff.

A character that doesn't handle his situations with violence is an interesting concept to build a game around. We have way too many shooters these days.

They never did that. They sony'd two romsites and a bunch of other sites didn't want to get financially raped. There's still shitloards of romsites out there. Just look at the share thread.

They actually made a shooter Doctor Who game. This wasn't such a problem before the new series made him a puritanical anti-gun nut. Classic Doctor Who was more like a Star Trek protagonist. He'd try to solve things peacefully, but he wasn't above picking up a gun and blasting shit, should the situation arise.

The Doctor doesn't function well as a playable character. He's interesting because he's older than you and smarter than you, with a viewpoint and thought processes that you can't understand. It's fun to watch him work and see the solutions he comes up with.

All the good things about the Doctor are good because he's so eminently not you. As such, controlling him in a video game would remove a lot of the good things about him. Any decent Doctor Who video game would be a generic game with a Doctor Who skin on top.

I wish more games did like Superhot did, where time moves when you do, that was a neat way to play, too bad the game was short and the story was kinda bland

f0ee87  No.15349565

>>15349506

Shadwen does that but it mostly feels like a crutch for being bad at stealth. It's sort of a neat gimmick but I could see it becoming cancerous if it ends up in too many games. It might be an interesting way to deal with strategy games and the like though, being somewhere between real time and turn-based.

The issue with time travel (unless it's really short term) is that if it is a dynamic game mechanic then the game has to remember everything you do and when you do it, imagine the bloat of making a permanent save every single second of a 10+ hour game and the problem becomes pretty apparent. The only ones I can think of have you travel to preset points in time like in OoT/MM and Ghost Trick. Apparently Titanfall 2 and Dishonored 2 both have a cool time travel level where you constantly switch between the present and the past, but I have not played them. The Zero Escape series is well known for its branching plotlines based on its time travel mechanic but I haven't played it either.

>>15352802

I'll second this, it's not exactly a game mechanic but the whole game is centered around it.
