I'm pretty sure they already released a statement saying they were going to have to "think about cultural sensitivities" (read: censor the fuck out of) regarding Wall Market. I find it vexing how many people seem to actually like crisis core. It's not just a terrible and boring game to play (how could anyone enjoy the semi-random battle system?): it also butchers all characterisation - rendering every significant figure a banal anime cliche - as well as the plot surrounding the event which forms the very basis of the original game. It appeals to people who love square enix as a producer of pretty, expertly choreographed cg cutscenes (of which there is only one of note anyway), and as a company which deals in generic adolescent angst (as opposed to people who loved squaresoft as a producer of interesting and emotionally engaging games).

I don't get it either. It could have been a fun action RPG without that fucking slot machine. What a bunch of contrived bullshit that story was too. It should have ended with Zack fighting Sephiroth in the reactor and that's it. The game should have focused entirely on Zack and Sephiroth's friendship and how it fell apart, and how cloud fit into it. The story was such a mess but those are the only parts I even remember.

The thing about Yuffie though is that her character's easy to get right. It's done in anime most of the time but it's Aerith and Tifa who have a more complex character that's easy to fuck off. Aerith being too naive and innocent and Tifa being too strong and "independent" but lacking the original character arcs and writing that made them so iconic. Almost none of the spin-off FF7 games ever got anyone's character right again. They flanderized them.

It annoys me (well not that much, but enough to post this) that Angeal, Gaylord and that new scientist bloke are now pivotal characters in the game's universe. I hope they basically pretend crisis core and all of the extraneous bullshit don't exist when they make this. Tbh I can't imagine the game not being a let down. I also think that - minus the world map - the game cannot possibly feel as epic as the original, even if they (somehow) got everything else right. It's still easily the game that I'm most interested in, pretty much by default (from software could be dealing with the remake, and it would still be basically the only game I give a shit about the development of).

Yoshinori Kitase has said they may include things from the Compilation:

I'm hoping this just means a few gay easter eggs for people who actually like any of the bollocks. Keep in mind that none of these games were particularly successful, and 95% (or higher) of the people they are aiming this at will have no attachment to them at all.
