People were getting game banned for saying mean things to someone who knew the devs.

Also the game was released in a blatantly unfinished state which hilariously backfired when the game license was indefinitely iced because of the ongoing lawsuit over the ownership of the IP, so they legally can't even finish their dumpsterfire. Unsurprisingly, an unfinished early access game (in all but name) with very little content and horrible balance issues came and went like a fart and even the twitch fags who the game was made to bait dropped it after only a few days.

There were actually a few. I can't say I know the full story but at the time when it was released I had a lot of free time on my hands and there was some youtuber streaming the shit while, so I put it on as background noise while I played vidya, since friday the 13th movies have always been fun to watch. That led into reading some of the steam drama and watching a few youtuber "news" channels about all the shit going down day by day. If some anons are interested let me know and i'll see if I can find a few of them, despite being old as fuck.

First iirc was the one where the dude was playing as jason and killed some chick that was friends with the devs and watching one of their kids while they played. She bitched and he the jason dude told her some shit like killing was his job in the game and to stop being an idiot. The devs ended up banning him and claiming he was being sexist, misogynistic and racist, but the dude had proof and showed the screenshots on steam and iirc reddit, and made the devs look like complete lying jackasses. He eventually cucked out and apologized to them and asked people to stop attacking the devs and dumb chick who started the shit. despite doing nothing wrong and being stolen from considering he can no longer play the game and paid them money for the game itself. So far as I can remember his account was never restored.

Second was when they started nerfing jason to appeal to the whiners, which ended up ruining game balance and making it pathetically easy to escape. I remember watching streamers getting away 9 times out of ten even when it was just one of them doing the legwork. Jason had to be amazing and them retarded to manage a fullkill completion.

Third was when people found out that the dudes making the game were already starting to make another game, despite Friday the 13th still being in early access and not even having a singleplayer or even half of what they promised. They essentially shitted out a barely functioning multiplayer, with a lot of rigid animations and were already planning their next game, i'm assuming because they'd already made the majority of the money they'd make from the game. The devs assured everyone they'd be keeping people on the game to finish it while the main team moved to the new game, but after the whole banning debacle, the slow updates and other bullshittery, most people didn't trust them.

Can't say for sure but I think the 4th ties into the 3rd situation. Despite intitially being gungho and happy about a friday the 13th game, and giving the devs permission, the creators of Friday the 13th got understandably pissed when they found out the devs were already beginning to make a different game, while 13th was still in development and left in early access. If i'm right, I don't blame them, who wouldn't be pissed if some greedy fucks did your creative child like that, as a quick one night stand money grab before fucking off to the next thing while leaving it as a hot mess on the floor.

The game is worth a yar-har if you wanna play the single player content or occasionally start it up and butcher some AI twats as the kill animations and the setting and such are great for a slasher and F13 fan, but the devs treated the community and backers like shit.

To what end?

So I ended up getting the game in the Humble Bundle due to my friends wanting me to get DBD. Hopefully the single player is as decent as some of the anons have said considering the multiplayer will be dead soon with the devs using the lawsuit as an excuse not to update the game any more.

I watched them play it a bit. Michael Myers looked sort of fun to play and I liked how they implemented his lore into his abilities. Guess I'll see how shit it is soon enough.

The single player is fun enough to tear some campers apart, either via the mass massacre of the final section of a movie (vs AI) or the Singleplayer Challenges. Only bummer in that aspect is that the challenges will not give you experience towards your profile rank.

The main thing you'll want will stupidly be locked until rank 113, which is to be able to use any weapon with any Jason, though when you reach rank 44, you'll have all Jason's available, other than the burning Jason.

Thankfully, this trailer doesn't have anything that you can't do in game. Just avoid multiplayer with anyone who isn't a friend as playing as Jason is miserable.
