What's your favorite game on nintendo 64?
What's the last game on that platform that you remember actually having fun?

Mystical Ninja is probably my favorite. The most recent I had fun with? Extreme-G.

I really liked buck bumble at the time. Ofc goldeneye, PD and all the essentials. Shadows of the Empire is my favourite star wars game.Wave race is a pretty fuckin fun game, as was diddy kong racing. There was…one? good fighting game on the 64 and that was Killer Instinct. I mean "good" as in mechanically sound and balanced.

I was crazy about that game when it came out. Still in my top 5 games. My mother was a bit irritated when she heard some of the dialogue but was crying from laughter at the Great Mighty Poo boss. When it came to video games she was pretty hands off as long as I wasn't failing in school.

My favorite is Mischief Makers, a really fun platform game with several puzzles and lots of personality. Since N64 games tend to so bland and dull, a game like this really stands out.
The last one I enjoyed is Doom 64, although I prefer the original game or Doom 2.
The N64 greatly disappointed me, but it had some good games.

Moderately on topic, but having recently reacquired by N64 sans most of the games I remember having I was thinking about the Everdrive, I know the one for SNES works great, but how does it hold up on the 64? Do I still need that memory expansion thing for some games because I do not have that and don't want to try and get it off a scalper.

Top Gear Rally. That game was the best for racing, the tracks were awesome, hard shortcuts, snow/rain conditions made it hard, mirror tracks doubled the gameplay, and all the secret car unlocks for clearing each game (i.e. NG+, NG++ to NG++7 or so). Milk truck was always fun. The last few cars near the end of last 2 seasons were super fast and enemies tough to beat. Mountain track was always a pain.
There were something like 20 cars per race, you start 20th and take 3 laps or so to get to first. There are 2 classes, each class had 10 cars. One class was a season behind (like your car), while the other class was a season ahead, so they were faster. 19th slow car, 18th place fast car, it rotates like that to 1st. Eventually the top 5 places would be the fast cars and they'd make a considerable gap ahead. If you were fast enough you'd still see 1st be a slow class.
It was like you were a team with the slow cars but not really, just happy to beat the fast class and help the slow class by bumping the fast ones.

If I remember correctly it is only required for 3 games, Majora's Mask, DK 64 and Perfect Dark. Apparently it is also required for Starcraft 64s multiplayer. Other games do make use of it (such as Rayman to increase performance) but it is not required per se. Still recommend getting one for the best experience, just try to get it cheap.

Speedrunning is fun and helps to get more replay value out of it. I have an attempt almost every other year or so, although I'm not that fast, it takes me about 4 or 5 hours to 100%.
Rayman 2 was the last N64 I've played in recent memory, although it's been quite awhile and I have yet to complete it.

I was playing Ocarina of Time for the first time this week and that's fun if a bit basic. Hard for me to understand why that game is considered super amazing though. Also gauntlet legends is pretty fun to couch co-op with a buddy. Gotta love that BEE EFF GEE sound effect. Oh and DOOM 64 is one I keep coming back to and playing.
