vega's a compute card which it does its job very well at. not a gaming card. as far as games go the architecture is really good, it's just an issue of pricing. You can see how good it is because Intel is using it in their igpu and amd's ryzen 2200g and 2400g offers fantastic performance in graphics and cpu at a sub 100 price range. dunno why there was never a descrete vega 16 or 24 or something, but that would be a really solid competitive card at 200-250.

GPU gens aren't 30% more frames for 4k btw, I remember reading posts on blur busters which explained 4K sees 50-100% framerate increase for the 980 to 1080. Can't remember exact numbers but basically the perf boost is higher for higher res's.
