Completely and utterly terrible in every single area, enemies, bosses, areas, visuals, characters, writing, combat, everything is awful.

Yes it worse than the reboot.

1.It's way too easy, you can beat a ton of bosses just using Dante's guns

2. Dante barely talks at all in the game and acts like he's kind of edgy

3. The gameplay was barely changed between DMC1/DMC2

4. The story is garbage

5. A lot of it is just running around empty environments

It's just an extremely bland and forgettable game. It could've easily killed the series if not for DMC3.

I will say it had a really nice cover but that's about all I'd say is good about it.

The DmC reboot was at least semi-competent in terms of gameplay, like you weren't able to just use your guns exclusively. They also patched additional difficulties into it purely for masochists.

Heavy focus on guns, devil trigger is easy mode, you fight a possesed tank and instead of it being a fun, short fight like in ninja gaiden black it ends up being a boring, drawn out fight, it also has a terrible final boss.

It's easy, it's boring, combat isn't fun, combos aren't fun, you can kill most things in the game easily with guns, the camera and targetting system is somehow worse than the first game, maps are too empty.There's very little it gets right.

On Devil May Cry 1 Dante had more smoother animations on 2 is like trying to see a snail do combos and wall jumps

I've been replaying DMC3 and I'm stuck at the awful jelly blob boss right before the final Vergil fight and it's so bad I just wanna uninstall and not look back. It's a boring slog and I'm just slowly taking chip damage because of the slug things it spawns and getting hit by slime missiles when my camera is getting mangled.

Just look at the stinger in DMC2. I don't know how to explain it besides in 1 it looks cooler because there's more time spent on animating the beginning and end while in 2 it's this slow stroll that culminates in a clumsy stab.
