Pretty small one but a small community makes some stuff for Bungies old RTT game Myth. The updated version of the game engine they maintain still gets updated every year or so as well. I think it's basically a smaller version of the Quakedad community with some older guys who still love and have time for the game making stuff for each other to play with.

There's this old ww2 strategy gaem called Pacific General which had a very active mod community in the early 00s. People would make all sorts of crazy scenarios and alt history campaigns. Sadly practically all of it has been lost when the fansites 404d and I've never been able to find any backups or reuploads (yeah I tried wayback machine)

ALSO FUN FACT: it was made in Unreal Engine 1, which was what Prey was originally being developed for. Y'know, the Xbox 360 game from like 2006-2007? They had working portals on moving 3D BSP brushes. I also found out about Prey years after the fact.

This is possible to see in-game, there are tons of cool little conversion cities and the like.
But you can get banned on retail WoW for using it, however if an Anon opened his own private serb of WoW, we could have this, and Strathwind(Stormwind but plagued up like Stratholme) and other cool little things, I talked about it with a buddy of mine a few years ago, but we never put custom shit in his server.

You could give the happy night mod and the corkscrew rule port a try even if the later is just a bad "mod" made by Akella. There was also a port of the original AWP mods called AWP forever that broke with the 5023 patch but should still work on the 5022.
