5cc057 No.15239419

>The outgoing CEO of Paradox Interactive Fred Wester has said the publisher will "probably" make a sequel to sprawling grand strategy game Crusader Kings 2, which he feels is becoming too "crowded" for more expansions.

>Paradox has released regular expansions for Crusader Kings 2 since it came out in 2012, and the next, Holy Fury, is due later this year. Wester—who will move to a different role at the publisher next week and be replaced by Ebba Ljungerud—says that the game is beginning to feel "heavy", and can't be expanded much more. Therefore, a sequel is likely, he says—but it doesn't sound like it's being worked on just yet.

>"We will probably do it at some point," he explained to gameindustry.biz in a interview in May, which was published yesterday. "The reason for that is the technical depth that we have in Crusader Kings 2. We can't add much more to the game as it is now. The map is really big, there's so much content in there. It wasn't really built for all of the expansions we made.

>"It's getting heavy. We might need to take the etch-a-sketch, shake it a little bit, and start over."

>He also hinted that Paradox may take "a bigger stab at RPGs" going forward, potentially with the White Wolf, World of Darkness, and Vampire: The Masquerade licences it bought in 2015. A Vampire: The

Masquerade tabletop RPG came out this week, and it sounds like we can expect more soon, with "a couple of projects that are at more than an experimental level right now".

>"People ask us why it's taking such a long time to do anything with the White Wolf stuff. And, well, we want to do things the proper way this time," Wester said.

>He added that the company will try to update its games more regularly with in-game events in future. "We need to be even better about working on a weekly basis—like, what's happening this week? Not necessarily something people pay for, but events within the week and things that have just happened in the game."

I can't wait to pay $300 for a full game again

Crusader Kings 3 will suffer the same fate as hearts of iron 4,being a casualized garbage that paradrones will still eat up and give paradox they goy money.Paradox is a lazy company wish steals content from mods for they dlc and release together "free content" with the update to try to cover they greedy business model, there is no more hope for good grand strategy games, stick to the old ones like victoria 2 with hfm if you want anything actually worth playing.

I have a feeling that CK2 only succeeded because Game of Thrones was popular at the time, CK3 will crash and burn whether they casualize it further or not.

he's not wrong. there are no other court intrigue type games on the market and that's just what normals wanted after GoT s1 and 2.

also believe it or not a lot of people buy the game just to try the GoT mod.

by the way most of the features in Holy Fury are taken from a big CK2 mod called CK2+. I'm not sure how to feel about this, I mean it's good to see them adding improvements to the game that players asked for but it seems kind of lazy to just copy what fans already did.

c4e449 No.15248931

>>15248916

even if alot of goy of thrones watchers bought it to try the mod, there's no way they would've stuck around to buy DLC after realizing it requires patience to actually learn the game.

defd93 No.15248960

>>15248931

a couple years ago a small patch broke the way dragons worked in the GoT mod (everything else worked fine, even other big mods like HIP, CK2+ and LI) and paradox spent money and time to fix it because they didn't want to lose the players. a portion of the playerbase only plays the GoT mod and has never touched the vanilla game

Yes, Paradox fans are retarded, we know.

CK3 can only be dumbed down ahistorical bullshit with forced gender equality laws and nigger popes.

defd93 No.15249106

>>15249007

you have NO idea

maybe you've messed around with the TES editor to change some things you didn't like about morrowing or oblivion, or used hammer to make your own CS map

guess what tools the paradox modding community uses… WORDPAD

paradox has been in the business for decades and they have never bothered to provide their fans with any modding tools of any kind. not even debug logs, if something goes wrong you have to guess. I'm not exaggerating. the fans don't care and will spend hundreds of hours building these massive mods with huge event chains, which the devs will steal and sell as DLC. slaves.

they sort of wisened up when HoI 4 came out and enabled an error console but there's still not map editor/event toolkit

42b45b No.15249118

CK2 is already so casual that there's no point in playing after early early game – there's nothing that could even remotely endanger you after that. I can't imagine CK3 being any better

>>15249106

Uh, most simple 2D games can easily be edited via Notepad++. That's not the problem with modding. It's more shit like hardcoded mana.

76a1bc No.15249307

>>15249118

>there's nothing that could even remotely endanger you

There is, however, plenty of shit to annoy you.

e41a6d No.15249872

there is pretty much 0 reason to do this. No one will buy this shit. Imperator was at least a good idea because EU:Rome was a broken cheaty as shit game that very few people actually liked. Everyone wants a new victoria for similar reasons, the Sphere system was shit, most of the CBs were bullshit hence why a lot of the time you end up with games where no one does anything and the reliance of jingoism in order to do anything sucked.

CK2 was one of the better games they put out, so remaking it again seems beyond retarded. There is no point at all.

c34626 No.15250090

>>15249106

The official TES editor isn't much better. There are massive gamebreaking bugs that you can only get by using the official editor instead of one of the fan-made editors - for instance, the official editor has a button in it marked "delete", but what it actually does, instead of deleting something, is put a flag on that something telling the game that when it goes to load that something what it should do instead is crash to desktop. The official DLCs for Skyrim and Fallout 4 are full of bad edits (as an aside: Bethesda are the only people in the TES editing community who don't know not to add those sorts of bad edits) that do nothing but add that flag to objects from the base game (an aside again: Bethesda are the only people in the TES editing community who don't know not to add that flag to things), adding massive amounts of crash bugs to the game if you don't use a fan-made editor to clean those DLCs out.
