I know I'm years behind on this one, but Jesus fucking Christ this game was both great and depressing. Just finished my first playthrough on painful, with Rage, Olan and Nern. I don't want to spoil myself but is there any way to get a different ending?

All endings are the same except the dialogue at the very end between mysterious characters is slightly different and they all reveal info about the characters and little bit of lore IIRC
The endings only change based on 3 things. If you do a playthrough with Joy on normal difficutly, if you do a Joyless run (never give any party member any Joy for the entire run) on normal difficulty, or if you do any run on Pain mode.

The game's been out for over 3 years and the developer moved on, I don't think there really is anything to discuss anymore. No, you cannot get a different ending but completing painful mode gives you some lore at the end if you care for that stuff. Lisa the Joyful is very mediocre as a DLC so be cautious.
If you want more then I suggest "Lisa the Hopeful" and "Lisa the Pointless" which are the best LISA fangames out there that give a large amount of gameplay. I'd even say that I liked these fangames more than the original game.

Fuck yeah OP. This is in my top 5 games for sure and one of the dozen or so games I've actually 100%'d. The soundtrack is incredible, yet so simple. I still listen to Summer Love regularly. The battle system does unique things and is fun til you learn how to break it. One time I convinced a bartender to let me play it on the big screen at a barcade for a weekend and even normalfags seemed to like the aesthetic and soundtrack. And definitely skip Joyful unless you're a completionist. The creator did a pretty interesting public interview here when the game launched: https://archive.is/HCDCI
Don't forget to take drugs when you play then feel feels you didn't even know were possible.

lol the balancing was basically you have to use every item you find in precisely the right way if you want to see the end of the game. Don't waste your time with the fan-games OP. I know you'll be thirsty for more, but it's like drinking spoiled milk after a milkshake. If you give LISA a 10/10 even the most generous rating of the various fan games is 5/10. Just play through LISA again on a different drug.

I'm still irritated about this and I haven't even beaten it because of this. I don't know exactly why but this just activates my almonds so much. Call me autistic for not being able to accept unfair choices, but damn it the developer could have made a better effort to create a situation with no way out but two bad choices. What they did with Buzzo just strikes me as lazy writing. Should I put up with it and finish the game anyways? Does the choice have any impact at all on the story or should I just make sure to have a useless party member I'm ready to sacrifice so I don't have to deal with a weakened Brad?
