Bethesda aren't even properly trained to use their own engine, though. Gamebryo actually isn't bad, it's just that Todd's Team don't know how to really use it and keep making custom patches to get it to do what they want. I got into modding a few years back, and the "official" CK/GECK documentation is absolutely horrible. At first I thought that Bethesda just didn't really give enough of a shit to provide proper documentation for free mods, but the more I reflect on it, the more I'm convinced that even they don't know how to fucking use it.
Also, CK was prone to throwing up errors on startup - even without custom plugins loaded, as well as randomly crashing. Even their own devtools are buggy unstable messes.
