The dishonored games. The best part is when you're done disposing of the guard and just look around for stuff. Lots of nook and crannies, as well as small stories associated with them.
>Dishonored 2
>You're in a mansion stuck in a time anomaly and can switch between past, when it was all shiny and full of people, and present where it's almost completely deserted save for bloodflies
>A vault in the present is completely buried in a bloodfly next and can't be opened
>But if you go into the past, there's a dog's body around with a note saying it's infested by bloodflies
>Incinerate the dog and the safe is freed in the present
Or
>Hospital map
>There's clearly a basement indicated on the map but nothing seems to lead to it, a note says it was condemned years ago because of flooding
>The only way to access it is to cut the elevator cables and make it smash right through the floor to the basement
>In it, you find a little backstory for Granny Rags from the first game
