Nioh lacks the variety of enemies and areas to be objectively better than the souls games, plus it is feudal japan, which is a very boring setting that's been done to death, resurrected done again, but because of it's superior combat it's at least as good. Depending on what you want it's either better or worse.

Also I forgot Dragon's Dogma, which is high tier.

I dunno, I think brawler is fairy consistent. Zelda games have combat yet they don't qualify because of how shit the combat is in them and the focus on other things.

The witcher games have even worse combat, but due to the combat being such a heavy focus in the games they are just a really shit brawlers with some grated RPG powder on top.

Among brawlers. RPGs and RTS games sure, but a good medieval hack and slash had been occasionally made, but wasn't ever as bad as the sengoku jidai avalanche we've been getting during the ps2 era especially.

It calmed down for a while, but seems to be heating up again looking at E3 2018.

Even on revengeance mode blocking is super easy, only if you horribly fuck of the timing can you mess it up, but the game is still incredibly lenient on blocking.

DMC is a good start. 1-4, by release order, if you really don't enjoy it then 2 is skippable.

Those remakes are not perfect but sadly pcsx2 can't emulate the dmc games well so they're your best bet.

"Brawler" shouldn't even be a genre name. Too much diversity in styles, at least RPGs always fall back on D&D style stats and dice rolls.

"Adventure" always will be associated with Sierra and Lucasarts adventure games; Uncharted is a cover shooter, only an "adventure" in tone. >>15094664

So I really just started getting into the genre, having finished Bayonetta for the first time yesterday. I plan to keep playing and getting better ranks, but where else do I go from here? DMC? GoW? I'm really liking this stuff.

You can't really go wrong with the platinum games, they're never god awful. I even enjoyed the korra game they made, if it had any enemy variety at all it could be the best one.

there are some bugs, visual problems and stuff for DMC1. There might be fix for those on internet but I can't find it. Also there is DMC1 iso for PS2, I can play downloaded it and hopefully play it in 60 fps. pcsx2 is fucking terrible but I might be lucky. Other than some minor stuff is there any reason to skip the HD version? I wouldn't mind about those things. Also DMC2 and DMC3 has no problem in HD as far as I can tell.
