It's not a scam, it just has a budget release option and unconventional single player choices which leads to autistic screeching.
the budget version cuts the one luigi/ken tier clone character and 10 decks of the games main gimmick (but you get to try out 2 decks every week for free before so you can see if you want to buy them or not.) If you get the standard version you get everything except the extra colors.
Meanwhile the game doesn't have conventional arcade mode or CPU vs. Arcade mode is replaced with a never ending survival gauntlet and CPU vs doesn't have round or time options. Both of which are in the Training/Practice mode instead of being in the main menu so you can switch characters and decks via the pause menu on the fly.
The only thing the game is really missing compared to a normal fighting game is a standard arcade mode with endings. But the game's worth depends on what you prefer out of a roster; do you prefer a large roster where each character will always play the same or do you prefer a smaller roster where each character will always have their respective moveset but has 15 different play-styles.
