Every marketing ploy done by actually experienced companies show bits or hints of what the general gameplay is supposed to be. The clunky samurai game, for example, showed stealth, combat and quick-time events. Cuphead showed boss battles, Hollow Knight did a typical metroidvania showcase, etc etc.
Death Stranding, however, showed walking, walking, cutscenes and more walking. Hell, even the part with the fucking shadow fetuses floating around was just walking.

no offense man but either you are retard or I am really missing something. Before I say this, keep in mind that I couldn't play MGS4 cuz it was exclusive, I've only watched full walktrough videos. So I have literally no reason defend MGS4 at all. Other than story, what did you dislike about? Looking at gameplay, it's pretty detailed and the best MGS (not counting 5). You have lots of things to try which seems really good, but I just watched the game so I don't know. In terms of story, it seems that Kojima just tried to sum up the whole series and end it. I don't want to say it's good or bad, but I don't really see a problem. Gameplay seems really good, story isn't super terrible as far as I have seen. Also the game is mostly cutscene I know. Still though, there are some gameplay in there. I actually enjoyed cutscenes I really wanted to see older characters like Raiden, EVA, Vamp because I am autistic.

to clarify the go outside thing, yes, big boss' speech is about just what you said. but along the way he also bemoans the in-universe generation of children growing up wanting to become pmc soldiers, and how they are playing video games that are "almost indistinguisable from" training in vr. later, when he is telling snake to stop fighting, he tells him to "go outside". It's a god obvious double entendre, wink at the camera. the connection between vidya and vr-training has been a subject for jokes and commentary since mgs1. the whole reason it's all vr all the time in the lore is self-aware playing around with the fact that it's a game. the narrative is constantly banging you over the head with its in-universe explanations for game mechanics or cheekily calling out the control mappings in dialogue.
I'm not saying kojimbles is telling you to stop playing video games. I'm saying that what's he's telling snake also applies to you; the game is over. "put down the controller and go outside". the dialogue in all the games are littered with this. if any of this is news to you, im honestly flabbergasted, it's all extremely surface level stuff
