Apparently Sony themselves are a major reason why video games are going to shit. If you haven't seen it both Sony of America and Sony of Europe just canned Omega Labyrinth Z for both the PS4 and Vita, I linked the archives and relevant picture. They're saying "never say never" when it comes to a PC release, but holy fucking shit. Regardless this isn't about fucking PQube or even the tiddy game. This is a clear sign that Sony of America has been fucking with things, which is unacceptable. Might also be why Dead or Alive Extreme 3 was never properly localized. Depending on the response we should organize in the GamerGate thread and start digging again, however for now we should play the waiting game and see if they backtrack or if they double down. Really wonder why these companies don't just issue english language localization packs as DLC (as a "tool" to help Jap kids learn gaijun language you see), and then drop the not so subtle hint that you can import and/or set up a JP account to buy it digitally. 1) as others have pointed out, the version on Play-Asia does NOT have English subtitles. and 2) the game play isn't sub-par at all. Omega Labyrinth is a top-tier roguelike. There are several improvements to the standard formula that I WISH would become standard, notably the auto-path dash function and the importance of - and ability to improve - your characters' basic level 1 parameters.
As well as other things that aren't game-changers but are nice touches, like a puzzle-based bonus dungeon that isn't randomly generated but instead tests your ability to exploit the game's various systems, and an in-game achievement system that unlocks bonus artwork by meeting certain requirements when clearing dungeons.
The boob-bouncing appraisals and masochist axe-loli are just the icing on an already delicious cake. It's an excellent game, and it's a damn shame the English-speaking world is missing out on both it and the sequel.
Best hope now is that PQube is somehow able to convince the devs to let them port it to PC (ideally, as some kind of deluxe package of both games). Given that the game is programmed in Unity, porting it to PC should be as simple as clicking a different box.

I doubt Nintendo Switch will stay the only new competitive handheld in the market. CES showed off a lot of phones or phone-sized PCs that can do what the Switch can do. It's a matter of time before they get a proper OS to run middleware PC games and not shitty Android phone stuff.

Then they are probably not only after Pqube but other localization/translation publishers as-well to really wanting to kill the niche middleware market, there are kinda too many publishers and developers in Japan and many of them probably only wants a reason so they can go full on mobile.

I don't think it's the whole of Sony QA but the western division of the company that fucked up, I don't think they are after the niche middleware Japanese dev companies mainly because there are many, so god damn many middleware companies in Japan.
They are probably having an agenda where they are kinda trying to say, don't publish this in the west it will fuck up our image or something along those lines. And really limiting the reach of localization publishing companies that are not strong financially, and many of them are going to the Switch since the Vita physical copies are killed by Sony now.

All that depends on what the Japanese are after in hardware and how many 3rd party devs are going to go along with their plan. I personally can only see that Chinese company that owns pubg and half of epic games to do such a thing.

PC middleware just need a potato with decent specs. A PC you can build from $300 parts on sale you can run most current gen game at mid-high settings at 60 fps. Phone hardware is getting there pretty soon.

Apparently Omega Labyrinth failed QA and that is why it isn't being released. I'm sure this isn't the case but is it possible that PQube just did a NiSA level fuck up? Like they broke the game with their localization and were unable to fix it? Has anyone asked or been told the reason why it failed?
