What do you think the next game will be? just got half genie hero a while ago and liked it quite a lot. I was a bit disappointed the risky mode didn't have any new stages but other than that I liked it. I really loved the aesthetics of it and the music was great.

Finally got around to playing HGH a couple weeks ago. Man it was fucking disappointing. There are two releases, one is the original release with separate DLC. The other is an "Ultimate Edition" that includes all the DLC+some backer exclusives from what I read on the Steam page

I really home Wayforward takes Shantae back in the direction of a Metroidvannia. Half Genie Hero is fun and pretty to look at, but I don't really like it as much as Pirates Curse and Risky's Revenge. The individual levels just kinda felt really disjointed and I really didn't feel like I was on a cohesive adventure like I did in the other two.

I can't quite remember, but I think Shantae was at one point planned as an N64 game. Various incarnations of Shantae were in development hell for about a decade before finally getting a release on GBC.
