Hard.

You will need precognition and or autismal note taking skills and no end of savescumming to beat it. The PC is weaker than almost all enemies for a long time, being outnumbered = death. You will die all the time and there will be another hole in your wall.

It's good if you're a glutton for punishment and dont mind somewhat primitive looking ARPGs, story and setting is top notch, very stat driven with checks for damn near everything.

If its on sale/cheap get it, just be warned its bullshit difficult

Seconding the part about it being bullshit hard. In the first city theres a group of 3 squatters that will engage you if you step on their turf and - as a test - I minmaxed the strongest combat character I could make and STILL was incapable of winning the fight. On good runs Id manage to kill 1 and wound the second but never outright win without cheesing the fuck out of it. The annoying part is that they arent the only group that will attack you if you step on their imaginary turf within the game. The whole game design basically ingrains into you the notion of not trusting fucking anybody because that named character you thought could offer some information or a quest is just going to murder you on sight. At the very least they only inhabit the slums of citys

It's literally a 2D walking simulator with little going for it. If you like eve but without 3D and closed within like 6 kinda small maps, then it's a game for you.

I just beat TFE on Normal a couple of days ago. For the first time, too. When I first played it as a wee lad, I always used cheats please god, please giveall, please open… The Kleer alley and 4 Ankh challenge nearly gave me a heart attack. I'll try playing TSE on a higher difficulty, one of my all time favorites, but again, I've only played it with cheats until now. Hell of a lot more fun now.

Started playing Descent Rebirth and got up to the second level with the screeching vulcan drones everyone always mentions. Boy have I been missing out by not playing it back in the day. How long in the first game? I already have Descent Rebirth 2 installed, but don't want to start playing it until I beat the first one.

That game is a motherfucker to play if you're not doing it in one sitting.

The hardest games I've ever played on PC was probably Inquisitor (no, not the new Warhammer title). A Diablo clone where you run out of stamina so fast you'll get your ass handed to you by starter enemies. It has some nice music (bitching cathedral theme), a lot of spells, a LOT of reading and it's made by chezch slavs. I honestly gave up after entering the town because I couldn't figure out the magic system and wasn't in the mood to not be a casual shitter.

Don't bother.

Its a really bad game based on D&D 3.5e systems. Everything but a spellcaster is a massively tedious slog with the spell caster being just a tedious slog. The verbose meaningless dialogue gives Pillars of Eternity and CAD a run for their money. None of the choices or character interactions matter as the ending for a good character or an evil character are literally the same FMV with no conclusion.

I beat hugo 1 when I was about 9 without any walkthrough. Felt pretty good with myself about that one. My Grandpa helped me with the weird old guy's questions. fuck the section with the bats and the mummy

Did the rest of the series on my own as well. 2 was the hardest by far and probably the least fair but never doubt having a shitload of free time as a kid and no other games to play.

3 is actually a decent game but way too short.
