I liked it but this is blatantly untrue.

They removed the medallions and everything is worse about it; its also far more casual than LttP ever was except for the minigames and optional shit maybe.

The world and characters were also far less memorable for whatever reason

The context it all goes in is so boring and cancerous and retarded that I don't know how anyone can even find it that fun anyways; the map design is only up to snuff/a bit above-average of the series at best anyways and doesn't redeem the whole friggin' game whatsoever

some of the same shit taste but I found strange journey to be a pleasant surprise, I thought it was going to be absolute dogshit but I found some of the graphic fixes to be a pretty good idea.

Locking things behind streetpass, or balancing the game around having access to it, is an incredibly bad idea because it fucks over anyone that doesn't live in a big Japanese city. 3D was a stupid gimmick that more often than not is just annoying. The touch screen is used poorly more often than its usage improves the game. It's almost always some stupid shit that could have been handled better with button presses. What you're asking for is for devs to shoehorn in gimmicks where they don't belong, simply because they can. Which, incidentally, was how the touch screen and microphone were used in almost every case for most of the DS' lifetime. By the time 3DS came out most devs had figured out that no one wants those shitty gimmicks for the sake of having them, and used them sparingly if at all. Of course, they all kept shoehorning in pointless 3D shit, like those 3D rooms in the Mario games, instead.

One of the only games that actually make good use of the touch screen is EO, because it offers something new that isn't an annoying gimmick and also has enough sense to NOT use it when it isn't appropriate. You don't have to flail around your stylus during battles, drag equipment around with it or navigate menus with it, because all of that is much better handled with traditional controls.

Why do you assume that a game can't both take advantage of a system's unique features AND be extremely good? Writing unique features off as gimmicks is silly, especially when the precursor system's unique feature (the second touch screen) is universally accepted as a fantastic feature. I'm not saying a shitty game with gyroscope is better than a fantastic game without it, but for a list of the most definitive games on a system, priority should be given to games that could only be fully experience on that system over ones that could be ported to another with minimal losses.

Streetpass is a great feature that both takes advantage of the portable nature of the system, while also being timeless. Many internet servers will likely die on the 3ds ala wii and miiverse but streetpass is eternal. Your arguments that it's useless in rural areas is silly in that you could apply it to anything, like multiplayer is useless if you don't have friends.

3d is a severely underrated feature of the 3ds. It's a nice graphical upgrade and still remains the most affordable user 3d. In many games it serves mostly as a visuals boost but in others it can help with judging distance or creating puzzles. I'm sure there likely won't be a 3ds 2 with 3d but I'm glad Nintendo implemented the feature. And if you don't like it just turn it off nigga.

Its rare to see this being the case on better handhelds and consoles and while I enjoyed my 3DS, it didn't add much anything meaningful to the DS's design.

3D added nothing. Streetpass, while a cool-sounding feature in theory ends up being grossly impractical in practice. It requires your friends to own $130+ handhelds; compared to splitscreen and on-the-couch shit which only requires 1 console and 2 controllers. Multiplayer on handhelds was already hard enough in previous generations like with the link cable but at least the handhelds weren't exorbitantly overpriced, especially with what Ninty did for the 3DS's first few months of release which really hurt it. Even with all the iterations of the 3DS it still hasn't achieved the market penetration of the GBA or DS.

Most other features don't matter in terms of vidya.
