Don't get me wrong, what they're actually putting into practice is shit, but I really like the fundamental idea of crowdsourcing all the graffiti and ambient art in Beyond Good and Evil 2. I hope this game's inevitable failure does not deter future games from doing similar stuff.
Imagine an RPG where every NPC has as much potential dialogue as main character. Normally creating a world with that much depth would be far too costly for any game development company to produce. But by crowdsourcing all the ambiance you could potentially save money while exponentially increasing the amount of depth. I think for a lot of the arbitrary art stuff crowdsourcing is beneficial for the final product.
